I was looking for a unique hotel for our mountain getaway and came across this gem. It was like going back in time. Even though the property dates back to 1948 the restorations in 2020 breathed new life into it while preserving the historical feel. The hotel still uses real room keys, not plastic cards! Our room was spotless and quiet. The king size bed was on the softer side, which folks who like a firm mattress might find uncomfortable. We didn't. The retro bathroom was a nice touch. Hearing the sound of the creek when we were outside was relaxing. The traffic in Maggie Valley wasn't bad at all. It was very easy to get around and has a small touristy town feel. The hotel is located near some great restaurants -- Joey's Pancake House, Brickhouse Burgers and Pizza, and Bizzarro Pasta & New York Pizza. Most places don't stay open past 8 or 9 o'clock at night, breakfast places close by 2:00, so be sure to check closing times and plan accordingly.
NOTE: Don't expect to have a wall outlet in 20 different places in the room...this is still a 1948 building. You will need to bring your own hairdryer too.
