Inconsistent service on check in/out. Upsetting.

I had a nice experience checking in and a very bad one checking out. Check in man confirmed all was correctly reserved and pre-paid. Check out girl said I needed to pay again. Despite repeatedly explaining she insisted that I had not. She went on saying that she needed the credit card that was swiped during check-in (wasn't) and got the dates wrong. My wife was shaken and upset. We were delayed leaving and unable to do our next objective. Otherwise fine.

Nice location by the River. Restaurant staff were very good……as were any staff we interacted with. Food was extremely expensive, and poor selection of vegetarian options……but the food we did have was very tasty…..the serving staff were excellent.

Es ist ein sehr komfortables Hotel. Es befindet sich im Keller ein großzügiger Pool und 2 Saunen mit Fitnessbereich. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig. Die Zimmer sind komfortabel und vor ein paar Jahren renoviert worden. In der Nähe befindet sich das Einkaufszentrum "Rheinpark Center". Die Straßenbahnhaltestelle "Neuss Reinparkcenter Süd" und die S-Bahnstation "Neuss Rheiparkcenter" sind ca. 8-10 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt. Teilweise ist es im Hotel im Bereich der Bar sehr belebt und laut, insbesondere wenn Kongresse oder Meetings im eigenen Kongresscenter abgehalten werden. Es sind tendenziell mehr Geschäftsreisende als Individualreisende im Hotel.

Room broken into

Average business hotel, however during my stay my room was broken into and laptop, bag etc stolen. Hotel took no accountability and didn't even offer to change my room key card. The fridge also didn't work in mine or my colleagues rooms. We stayed elsewhere for the rest of our 2 months in the area

I recently stayed at Crowne Plaza Düsseldorf - Neuss, and while the hotel was clean and the staff were friendly, the overall experience was disappointing—especially as a Gold IHG Member. Unlike other IHG properties I’ve stayed at, there were no membership benefits at all—no upgrades, no welcome perks, nothing that made me feel valued as a loyal guest. On top of that, parking was €24 per night, and breakfast was €19 per person, which felt overpriced compared to similar hotels. What really stood out was the lack of any special service. We were celebrating our anniversary and had informed the hotel in advance, but there was no acknowledgment—no small gesture, not even a simple note. It was disappointing, especially considering how other Crowne Plaza hotels usually handle such occasions. Another thing that seemed odd was the water situation. There was just one small bottle in the fridge, and a note saying that if there were two guests, we had to go to reception, collect a voucher, and then go to the bar to get another bottle. It honestly felt ridiculous—why not just put a bigger bottle in the room? Is water really that expensive here? To be fair, I got the impression that the staff would have done more if they had the authority, but the hotel’s policies seem to restrict what they can offer. Overall, while the basics were fine, the experience lacked the hospitality and recognition I expect from Crowne Plaza, and I wouldn’t rush to stay here again.
