Excellent place to stay. Very relaxing. Quiet and high quality food. Friendly staff. Great pool. Site is very big but staff were great at driving you around in the carts. A long way from town suggest splitting time between hotel in town and the resort.

6/10 Good

Normally I don’t write negative reviews unless really something happens (or not happens). I travel a lot, work and pleasure, I live in Asia and I kinda understand the struggles in this business. I am only realistic. Let’s say this hotel is not bad overall but cannot be considered Luxurious - being part of the SLH Small Luxury Hotels consortium - if this is what you expect considering the price you pay. The property is huge, you are secluded in the middle of the nature facing one bight of Mekong river, perfect to disconnect. Loved it. 20 mins from town, but no taxi app driver can pick you up there (unless private) and only a shuttle (truck) once a day to go to town (6.30 pm). That’s why I rented a scooter, easier. And part of the road is not completed. No asphalt, super bumpy. Not the best trip (not their fault maybe but…). Staff is nice, polite, smiling, but no problems-solving, sorry. Any question I raised (help with gasoline late at nite, late check-out, taxi for early morning) was a sort of deja-vu: first they checked with a manager via message (never call) but then the replies didn’t arrive, took ages or were negative. Frustrating a bit. I used their nice infinity pool, ordered a drink. Only one table settling the bill at 4.30 pm. It took 40 mins to prepare it: sabai sabai is ok but… Explorer Tents are comfy and quiet, but my door lock was terrible: lock moves, it works (with patience), indeed safe but it needs to be replaced (they didn’t). Surely room for improvement!

Incredible place. The staff are WONDERFUL and it’s a slice of heaven in SEA. Highly recommend. There are several shuttels every day back and forth to town so you can experience Luang Prabang but be in glory of the Namkhan.

We loved our spacious and clean premium 2 bedroom villa. The view from both bedrooms and outdoor seating area were simple gorgeous. The restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast buffet is limited but i liked the fact they don't have a huge variety and thus limit wastage. It would have been nice to have milk in the villa for tea/ coffee. We asked housekeeping for it but didn't get the milk. The shuttle service to the city centre and back was an added bonus. It would have been nice to have a covered vehicle since the approach road is very muddy.

Very unique, luxurious, gorgeous eco resort. Good food, lovely staff, beautiful grounds. It was above and beyond what I expected it to be. I stayed in the tents and it was comfortable and quiet. What a wondeful place to unwinds. They have two pools and a small sauna, a playground, yoga area, and many other areas to enjoy.

We didn’t realise we were booked to stay in a tent, which l must admit we weren’t very keen on, particularly with the bathroom being outside of tent, a bit awkward if needed to use during night. Internet a bit flaky we were located some way from main area which may have been cause. The location was pleasant which overlooked river. Clean & comfortable. The restaurant was good and attractive. Also nice pool and surroundings, water very cold! The staff lead by Carl were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. We went on their private boat to Buddha cave which was lovely. Regular shuttles were available as town approximately 15 minutes drive away part of which was along a very rough road. If you want peace and quiet it’s an ideal place to stay.

Great for seclusion and get away from it all. For visiting in the town, it's inconvenient. Staff is great, bungalows are great, location is wonderful for a yoga retreat or just meditation etc. It's not so easy to get to.

Stayed solo here for a personal retreat. I’m a regular to LPB. Heard such great things about the serenity of the resort from friends so thought I’d try it out. Staff are helpful and accommodating, facilities are clean and well maintained, and breakfast was simple but good. The real winner is the massage therapist Daeng, she’s simply a pain relief magician. I wish I could do more on the resort but weather was perfect during the day time. My only issues: What is shown in the photos isn’t the same as what you’re actually staying in so please help management adjust accordingly (some folks may consider it borderline false advertising). I was in a room that had two beds and barely any natural sunlight, which seems like a missed design opportunity, but then when I asked to be in a quieter part next to the river, I was placed in an explorer tent which was quaint and fun but simply not functional with how cold it got at night and the lack of privacy with the open bathroom concept, which basically is a transparent curtain with plenty of mosquitoes and no privacy from above. There was a group who had a drone they were using on the property so I wasn’t comfortable knowing the open space in my room. Unsure if paying for riverfront should cost more if you’re in a tent but that was overall fun times.

Definitely recommend this ecolodge ! Amazing jungle resort along a beautiful river. We had an wonderful stay and didn’t want to leave. The grounds are beautiful, they have so much space and activities. The dishes at the restaurant are so tasty. It is the place to be in Luang Prabang!

Great for a day visit, massage and meal

the staff here are lovely, the food is delicious and the grounds are beautiful. I wouldn’t recommend staying, but a day visit would be lovely. Massage was wonderful. The bungalow had a terrible sewage smell, the place was full of mosquitos and no spray offered, the mosquito nets were not large enough for the bed. It just started up, so likely to improve in the coming months and years.

This place was AMAZING!! They recently opened their bungalows and are about to open their “glamping” tents along the river. I have been to Luang Prabang before and feel that Namkhan Is extremely unique in their combination of eco-ethics and affordable luxury. They have off site tours and also offer excellent on site activities, like tubing, swimming in their pool, farm tours, horse back riding, various sports, and massages. They also grow and make their food on site (it’s a real farm!) , so it’s delicious. Last, but not least, the staff is extremely attentive, accommodating, and they are really interested in giving you a fantastic experience. My only concern is that it will be fully booked when I try to go back.

Luxury in untouched nature We can absolutely recommend this paradise! We booked a tent directly by the river. It was very luxuriously equipped and had an own platform with a breathtaking view. We were actually surprised how spacious the tent was! The staff was very friendly and gave us good recommendations on what to do or where to go. We can recommend the kayaking or the waterfalls tour. It was very important for us to find place that offers also good vegan options in their menu as I am vergab and my boyfriend not. I have to say this lodge was an amazing choice. Both food options, regular and vegan were exceptional! Overall, a super nice experience. We will come back!

The property is very nice but I think there needs to be a buyer beware - the property is 15 minutes outside of town and you are beholden to The NamKhan shuttle service or you need to pay an overpriced fee to get back and forth. For example the last free shuttle returns from town at 6:00 pm and the night market starts at 5:00. It would be great if there was a free shuttle at 8:00 or 9:00 pm so you can enjoy the night market and the town. Of course if they offered that, the restaurant at the resort would take a hit. I would also disappointed that there were hardly any guest at the property during our stay. It is always nice to interact with other travelers. Finally, the resort charges an extra fee for so many things including yoga. The property is nice but you will be secluded from do much in the area.
