Hotel Ascot, Zürich

We really liked this hotel- the room was very nice with a terrace, the staff was pleasant and accommodating. Location was great.

The Ascot is a great little hotel. Not fancy in any way, but great little restaurant and bar. They get all the basics right without all the pomposity of some hotels…. And nice and close to the train!

Enjoyable stay and welcoming staff. The area is next to the tram 6 line to shopping and the bahnhof, making it readily accessible. Breakfast in the morning was good, but have had better selections at 4-star hotels. Quiet area and good for sleeping, but the bed is on the very firm side. Only negative - Without touching it, the shower temp kept fluctuating from lava hot to lukewarm every 30 seconds ... try micro-adjusting it in either direction, and it went to the other extreme :-/ Assuming that is a one-time problem, would stay again.

The hotel is situated in a great location, next to tram and train. It has a very nice bar at the lobby level and it looks like a very good restaurant attached, too. (We did not eat in the restaurant, but did have a few drinks at the bar.) Overall very good. Clean, quiet, decent sized room. Our room had a nice balcony overlooking the FIFA museum. The one minor dislike was the condition of the bath tub. There was a broken plastic "part" (I think maybe a water overflow safety drain) that was mildly annoying but did not actually affect the function of the bath or shower. Service desk staff were kind and friendly. I have stayed at this hotel once before, so with 2 visits' worth of experience, I can recommend the hotel.
