Spring Point (AXP) Hotels
A petite portal to paradise, Spring Point Airport (AXP) is as a low-key as the island it occupies. Serving Acklins Island, and neighboring Crooked Island too, a link to Bahamas’ capital city makes the hidden gem easily accessible. Like the airport the island isn’t packed with touristy offerings, choosing to let the glossy magazine-style scenery do the talking instead.Hotels in
Spring Point (AXP)
Since it’s not a tourist hotspot you won’t find a wide choice of hotels near Spring Point Airport, or on Acklins Island or the adjoining Crooked Island. That’s entirely forgivable however, given that it preserves the island’s tranquility. Instead you’ll find a small handful of basic beachfront guesthouses and B&Bs, offering just enough to please any easy going inner-islander.Where to stay
Unspoiled, serene, and secluded, Acklins offers a real desert island-style escape. Its capital is the town of Spring Point, but the shore is where you’ll find the action – with some top diving, snorkeling and fishing to be had. The island is also home to a historical Lucayan Indian settlement on Pompey Bay Beach, one of the largest in the Bahamas. How to get to Spring Point (AXP)
There are scheduled services to and from Spring Point Airport from Nassau Airport several times a week. Once you land you can hop in a taxi to your hotel – be sure to ask the driver for hot tips and favorite local places – or you may prefer to hire a car. Ferries travel to Crooked Island fairly regularly.
