First time at the Russell boutique Hotel, we found the location excellent with plenty of wonderful pubs and restaurants within short walking distance. The hotel its itself was fine. The breakfast was very good as well. The room was suitable size and the ensuite bathroom was large although this was an accessible room which we changed at the last minute as our original booking was a shared bathroom. Fortunately there was this room available at the last minute so we decided to upgrade. We would stay there again Staff were helpful and accommodating.

The Russel is a newly refurbished heritage hotel above the oldest bar in Sydney, Fortune of War. There are many stairs. It was somewhat like a maze! There is a lift to the second floor but you will still have to take a few stairs. We selected a room with a bathroom. It was spacious and lovely. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the sheets were very good. The free breakfast was delicious! The menu had many options. I would highly recommend this hotel. The location was close to the train, the ferries and the Sydney Opera House.

Great location, even though the property was old and charming a little work is needed to bring up to scratch (to match the price). With a little better styling could be amazing. The central heating was oppressive, we could open the window which helped.
