A lovely respite from the busy lake town where it was very crowded. Quiet and peaceful with calming environment and wonderful view of lake. Great location for hiking up to Tenjoyama Park with fabulous views of the lake and Mount Fuji. They could invest in an easier walk up the driveway to the hotel as it is very steep and could be considered moderately difficult.

Wonderful hotel, everything we could ask for. Great room with view of the lake, private onsen, and comfy beds. Great public onsen, and access to a lounge for free breakfast, drinks and food throughout the day. Staff were great, including transfers to the local train station. All fantastic.

I visited this hotel in 2022, and visit again this year (2026). The room seems newly renovated and looks very new, clean and updated. The staff is friendly, helpful as always. This hotel is certainly worth it.

Service was excellent and the breakfast and happy hour was the best I have ever experienced in this price range. The only downside is the location on a hillside and the walk up the hill is pretty steep and not for anyone too elderly.

6/10 Good

Everything was great especially the Onsen. Very relaxing with the view of the lake. So nice especially during dusk and dawn. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only complaint is and it’s a big one (hence only 3 stars), the food at the buffet was seriously lacking. Dinner was served from 5-7pm and by the time we arrived around 6pm, all the protein were gone and they were no longer bringing more out. Staff said that they replenish it 3 times and that’s it. So what happens to people who arrive between 6 and 7pm? Did they not pay the same high premium rate as the others who arrived earlier??? Very bad for business and I’ll definitely won’t be going back. Proper food and shelter are basic needs. They need to change their stingy policy.

This was the highlight stay of our entire two-week trip! Absolutely beautiful hotel, stunning surroundings, convenient to Oishi Park. We were still waking up very early due to the time difference, so we went to the onsen to relax and watch the sunrise. It was wonderful. Every single staff member here was phenomenal and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and memorable. When we left, we said we just wanted to come back to Hotel Rakuyu for the entirety of the trip next time! Thank you for an incredible memory!
Hope, 1-night trip
