This was the worst experience.
We had booked this in advance, and 4 days before we were due to check in, I read a bad review about the cleanliness etc. So I emaile "My Hotel" who were managing the property (please note that this is not an actual hotel in any way shape or form), advising them that i had read the review and wanted to ensure that the apartment would be clean upon our arrival - especially as my husband has high expectations in this regard, and would leave if not up to standard.
My husband arrived before I did, to the room not only not being ready, but in a disgusting state. He rang "My Hotel" and they informed him that they had a rogue tenant in this property, who had also planted wetas and other bugs. My husband advised we would not be staying and it was agree that the booking be cancelled and we get a full refund. My husband found us alternative accomodation, at significantly (double) the money, as Auckland was full and everything was at a maximum premium for the next 4 nights. The next day my husband got a call from "My Hotel" advising we would only be refunded one nights accomodation because we decided to leave, and the bug situtation whilst true was "not that bad - it was only one or two bugs" (Note: has anyone seen wetas? and would you want to find them in your bed?).
After several days of phones calls it was agreed we would get a full refund, which we recieved, but still out of pocket for this terrible experience.
