The location is excellent, close to many tourist spots in St. John's. This is an old heritage building with many stairs. The shared bathroom we had is a viable system and I appreciated the lower price compared to many downtown hotels.

Hotel consists of a relatively small number of rooms in an original building in downtown St John's so it has an antique feel. Our room even included an old (non-funtioning) fireplace, but was adequate in size with comfortable bed and well-fitted bathroom. Very convenient to the multiple restaurants (and brew pubs) on the surprising active (to us) main street. The ground level houses an independently operated restaurant serving high-quality dishes which we enjoyed. Initially concerned about noise, disruption, etc from here, but this was not a problem, altho loud motorbikes on a Friday evening/night were a little annoying. No reception staff, but this was made clear in messages. and we had no trouble using lock-boxes, etc, to gain entry.
