The restaurant / pub had good food and a decent selection of drinks. Staff was friendly, if slow.
I was unlucky enough to have a room directly overlooking the main door to the hotel. Apparently this pub is also the main drinking spot for the town, and the smoking area is in the entry way of the hotel. The result is to have a group of drunks, every single night, being rowdy in the main entrance on each of their smoke breaks. I have never been to a pub that allows such chaos in their front door, never mind a hotel with sleeping guests directly above.
In addition, the interior is very dated and stagnant. The rooms were always too hot, with no real.way to cool them. (Our party had 7 rooms, all with the same complaint) I was able to cool the room by leaving the window open. However this allowed my room to smell like cigarette smoke die to the smoke pit below. Hallways, doorways, and elevator are ridiculously narrow, making luggage movement an exercise in frustration. Entertainment is 1980's basic cable, and not all channels on the guide are available. Movies, PPV, Netflix and the like have not yet made it to The Crest.
If you stay here, insist on an ocean view room to keep away from the travesty of the drunken antics at the smoke pit. Pack light to avoid having to drag large items through narrow spaces. And bring cash, the restaurant isn't cheap and 6 nights in the worst room was almost $1200.
