This is a charming old hotel in a beautiful, peaceful, neighborhood. Included breakfast was decent, albeit always the same. Common area decorations made it like staying in a cute museum. I would stay here again. However...amenities are limited (hair drier, bar soap, shampoo, tower fan (no washcloths or things like mini-fridges and in-room coffee/tea understandably due to building age and fire regulations). Room service is only provided on THIRD MORNING -- so once during our 5-day stay. (Clean towels are avayalbe on request.) They warn that there is no elevator and stairs are steep. NOTE that STAIRS are VERY STEEP! Carrying suitcases to 3rd floor was a challenge for us older adults. (The young woman staffing the desk did offer to help but not sure how much help she could have provided due to her diminutive size.) We were not IN the hotel very much other than to sleep, so not a lot of interaction with staff. But in those times we requested help it felt like staff members were miffed at being interrupted. So not the most welcoming attitude. We paid extra for a canal view which would have been worth it EXCEPT for fact that, on day 2, scaffolding was erected in front of hotel in preparation for painting the exterior, obstructing our extra-cost view. We understand the need for renovation -- that need certainly exists at Weichmann -- but it would have been proper to inform us ahead of time so we could have made a decision on our stay. Another example of limited hospitality?
