There are only two hotels on Kosrae. I booked Pacific Treelodge for four nights, but they ended up being full on the first, so they arranged for me to spend my first night at nearby Nautilus -- so I experienced both hotels. The best three things about Treelodge are (1) the INCREDIBLE restaurant, which has a stunning setting and offers really tasty and interesting food (at very fair prices); (2) the free kayaks (you can go up a couple of small, secluded channels or head the other way into some bays with stunning views, especially at sunset); and (3) the friendly and helpful staff (when I wanted to see the island's small museum on my last morning there, the hotel had someone drive me there for free -- he also waited for me while I visited). My room itself was a little worn, but very clean and functional. Wished the AC worked a tad better, but all good. For the record, Nautiulus was similar. I may have preferred the room there slightly and they have a nice little pool. The restaurant there is quite good too, but without the stunning setting at Treelodge. Kosrae is a unique, very beautiful place, far off the beaten track. You will need the hotel's help setting you up with guides to do some of the activities. From the hotel, the 20 minute walk to the little village of Lelu, along the quiet main road and across the causeway, takes you past some fantastic scenery.
