The welcome from the staff was excellent. Sadly the rooms are tired and the breakfast is average. Very small plates and terrible coffee.

Great location, lovely staff. Room could have done with somewhere to put clothes but otherwise good.

Great place to stay in the heart of Oslo. Staff were always helpful. Room was very small but adequate for our stay. Breakfast was amazing, great variety and ample quantity. Location was close to everything. Would definitely stay again.

8/10 Very good

The rooms are quite small, there's nowhere to put anything in the bathrooms. There wasn't a single shelf or spot to put something in the shower, even though I know that we usually have larger bathrooms in the US. Even at the sink it was challenging to store our basics. The beds are ok; the split sheets are a bit annoying and the pillows are tiny. The rooms themselves block a lot of the hallway noise which was great. The breakfast was great, lots of options and long hours. The location is dead center in the tourist area, so if that's where you want to be it's very convenient. All the staff we interacted with was quite friendly.

The room was clean, quiet, and pink. The breakfast was very good with a wide variety of food, it was also very crowded. The bar was quiet with minimal drink choices.

Everything was amazing. They allowed us early check in and late checkout for a small fee which was really necessary with an infant. The hotel staff was polite and very helpful. It was our first time staying with an infant and the experience couldn't be better.

10/10 Exceptional

My stay at Karl Johan Hotel was wonderful from start to finish. The location is unbeatable, right on Karl Johans gate and within easy walking distance of Oslo Central Station, the Royal Palace, restaurants, shops, and many of the city’s main attractions. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The breakfast each morning was excellent, with a great variety of fresh and delicious options that made it the perfect way to start the day. What truly stood out was the exceptional service. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and always happy to help with recommendations and any questions we had. Traveling with my mother, we especially appreciated how accommodating and kind everyone was throughout our stay. I highly recommend Karl Johan Hotel to anyone visiting Oslo. It offers an ideal combination of comfort, outstanding service, a fantastic breakfast, and one of the best locations in the city. I would happily stay here again on my next visit to Norway.

A decent hotel in the heart of Oslo. While the overall maintenance and cleanliness could be a little better, the hotel is also somewhat cheaper than other options in the area, so I found it to be a fair tradeoff.
