The hotel delivered exactly what we were seeking: top end but traditional experience of J. Alps, with gorgeous natural spring baths. Way more than expected, the Kaiseki dinners were outstanding, and staff went over and above to help (we even needed an MD). I would very highly recommend this onsen inn.

What an amazing stay! We loved every minute of our stay. The staff were amazing and so helpful and attentive. We loved the onsen and all the amenities that came with the hotel… free ice cream, ramen, mochi and saki were just some of the great things. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Thank you for an amazing magical stay in hirayu onsen, we will be back!

There are generally not that many options and variety with food both in the hotel and in the nearby by restaurants and cafes, but that’s understandable given that the location, nature and ski resorts are nearby instead.

Great Ryokan experience!

If you want to stay close to all the attractions the Kamikochi area has while also staying in a very comfortable hotel, this is the place for you. The kaiseki food at the hotel is superb, and the hot spring bath options are great, right in the middle of nature. I strongly recommend staying here for a relaxing vacation.

The location and venue was absolutely perfect. Only a short walk to the bus terminal, the hotel allowed me to park my car before checking in. Our room had its own onsen tub and it was so clean and up-to-date. The food was just okay… but I was happy overall with the service and everything else, that it did not matter.

Excellent stay. Everything stands out. Clean, safe, wonderful, amazing snowy night and day. Staying there for 2 nights was so dreamy. The onsen experience was unreal. Breakfast was filling with a great set offered. Staffs were helpful and patient. Language barrier was not a big issue. They sincerely try their very best to accomodate. If you want perfect english, best to visit an english-speaking country.

Everything was great, and the service was nice. However, the private hot spring couldn’t be reserved in advance, so we had to wait until checkout to see if it was available. Also, there was no shuttle bus, which isn’t convenient for someone traveling on foot, especially on a rainy day.
