Professional staff, clean spacious room, Mountain View with noise from road. Terrace overlooking lake was perfect for pre dinner drinks and restaurant staff were very welcoming and helpful when deciding on food choices. Overall a good stay on the lake.

Location is ideal, only 10 min walk to train station and bit less to lake. All staff were great. It is a Viking tour hotel so you do get a lot of people staying but the hotel facilities can handle it. Breakfast was a wide range the only criticism is that the hot food isn’t hot. Cold scrambled eggs, bacon. The room we had Mountain View was big enough for a week no issues. Lake maggorie is vast and traveling everywhere on the ferry can get expensive. Worth the money is the Maggiore express on the weekends that take you to Locarno in Switzerland and scenic train back. All in all a lovely 7 days.

This hotels gets the big things but fail on the small. Grand hotel, great beach, beautiful rooms, great breakfast, but as others note, you pay 25 to park for a day, in fact more if you use the car because payment is per hours capped at 25. We asked for iron. No. Not possible. Leave with staff and they will iron, I guess tomorrow.. and do on.

The hotel has a great location, a nice beach club and beautiful territory. Unfortunately, almost everything else falls short of what you would expect given the price and the hotel’s published rating. The breakfast is nowhere near worth €30 per person. Although the selection is quite extensive, the quality of the products is rather average and the overall offering simply does not justify the price. The parking fee is also completely unreasonable at €25 per day. This kind of price might be understandable for visitors who are not staying at the hotel, but charging hotel guests this amount feels excessive and unfair. The staff seems polite and friendly, but the service feels very formal and impersonal. They seem more focused on following procedures than on actually helping guests. There is very little feeling of genuine hospitality or willingness to go the extra mile. Overall, the hotel gives the impression that it was probably a fantastic property some years ago, but that insufficient investment has been made in maintaining and upgrading it to the standard you would expect today. The location, beach club and grounds are definitely the strongest points, but unfortunately the overall experience does not match the price or the hotel’s rating.

The facilities are beautiful the price to not include breakfast and the parking that they have is per hour every time that you go in and out, it’s not that close to Baveno or Stresa unfortunately during our stay, it was raining a lot, but the facilities are beautiful. Beautifully situated grand old hotel with commanding views across the lake. Very friendly, helpful & polite staff. The rooms & communal areas have been tastefully updated with modern touches. Lovely to be able to relax on the terraces or on a sun lounger down by the lake & swim. The swimming pool is rather oddly situated & is probably not quite in keeping with the rest of the hotel. The tennis court has an amazing view but the surface needs some tlc & it costs Euros20 an hour to play. It was a little disappointing that neither access to the gym nor the health/wellness area were included in the overnight stay. Again one had to pay extra for those. It would be worthwhile Expedia making that clear.

It's a lovely hotel right on shore of the lake. Room was large and comfortable and the reception staff were very friendly. Dinner was excellent but the breakfast was poor for the money. We struggled getting to the hotel as there were no taxis available from Stressa station. Overall we really enjoyed our short stay and actually enjoyed this area more than Lake Como .

Every single thing about our stay at Hotel Splendid was, indeed, splendid. All of the staff from the front desk to the bar to the restaurant were all so helpful and friendly, and the location cannot be beat if you are looking for a place to hangout and unwind. There is also a convenient walking path into the town of Baveno from the hotel to avoid the busiest road, as well as a shuttle stop right up the street for the Alibus that runs to Malpensa airport. The private lakefront beach is perfect for swimming and the breakfast buffet is impressive. Absolutely worth adding for your stay. I am not embarrassed to admit that, in a 4 night stay, we only ate one meal outside the hotel...the restaurant is just that good. Book your stay at Hotel Splendid, you will not regret it!
