Although Elements Hotel and Shops is extremely new, and my husband and I were there during their second week of being officially open, the stay was extremely satisfactory—and this is coming from a germ-a-phobe. You can tell the hotel’s owner, Curen, took immense pleasure in this business project. Most of Curen’s staff was extremely friendly and helpful, as well! the bed was very comfortable. There were shelves for our shoes. The shower was one of the best ones I have used. The hot water was better than my own at home. Curen upgraded us to a suite, and we got the privilege of having a balcony.
There was still construction at the hotel, but it wasn't really an issue. The hotel is still finding its feet, and there isn’t a hotel receptionist at the desk 24/7. But Curen provided his phone numbers and when we left our room keys in the room, we went to the hotel's restaurant, Cascada. The staff there was able to help us out. Speaking of... their cheeseballs and parmesan French fries are the best on the island.
The hotel is on the outskirts of “old town” Willemstad and the Petermaai district, which is being renovated as well. It is downtown, and that being said, parking can be difficult to find on busy days as the hotel doesn’t have its own private parking. We got around it by not returning to the hotel until after sunset and being mindful of city events surrounding Carnival, which Curen kept us informed of.
