Hometel On Signal Hill, St. John's

Great location. Rooms are pretty small and be prepared to lug your luggage up some stairs (no elevator) but otherwise perfect!

This was our first trip to St. John's and we wanted a place that was somewhat centrally located. Hometel was on Signal Hill which we visited and a short drive to Quidi Vidi. It is also walking distance (a bit of a long walk up & down a steep hill) to restaurants downtown. There were two things we didn't like. First is that there is limited parking near the rooms. Also, our room was up two steep flights of stairs and there was no elevator. If we had known this ahead of time we would not have booked here. Once we were in the room, it was clean and comfy and appeared fairly new. Breakfast was included and that was just fair. In the end, this is an unusual place that looks like a block of condos that was turned into a hotel. Some might like it but we wouldn't return.

These units were probably build as row house condos that didn't sell. Now divided up as rentals. Good construction, but limited parking. A very nice continental breakfast upstairs in the end unit which doubles as the office.

My only criticism is that i found it very difficult to read building numbers especially at night.

The location was great. Easy walking distance to most sights. Breakfast, although self serve had an incredible selection of items. We would highly recommend the hotel. The staff were very friendly,

Room, especially bathroom, was too small for 2 people travelling with luggage. Would be fine for 1 person for a short stay.
