A hidden gem only 9 minutes from the center of Bayeux! Gorgeous property in a charming village. Rooms and grounds were tastefully decorated in a traditional with a modern twist style. Very elegant. Gorgeous setting in a beautiful chateau. Huge, well-appointed rooms, lovely grounds, cozy lounge. Easy drive to Bayeux for restaurants/shopping. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The Hôtel Château Saint-Gilles was absolutely stunning. The grounds were immaculately cared for and the rooms were modern and spacious. The location of this hotel requires a rental car. We did not have one and had to use taxis/Ubers to get into the town of Bayeux that were very expensive. One major frustration for us was that we booked two rooms and the rooms were not near each other at all-in fact they were in separate buildings. When we asked for one of the rooms to be moved, they said they did not have availability. Typically, when a family books two rooms, they need or want to be near each other. We had breakfast at the hotel one morning and found it quite disappointing for the price. We chose to eat breakfast in Bayeux following that. We were here for a short stay and wish we had more time to explore the amenities the hotel had to offer.

The Chateau is situated in the countryside just 2 miles from the beautiful town of Bayeux. Perfect location for nice walks and for touring the D-Day sites. Note: it’s a 15 euro trip to/from Bayeux. Worth it.

Best place to stay when visiting Bayeux

Absolutely perfect place to stay! Close to Bayeux, the chateau is beautiful and very well-maintained, on a very large estate. Our room was beautifully decorated, quiet and dark with a very comfortable bed and top quality bed linens and comforter. The bathroom was brand new, gleaming, with generous amenities. The main building reception has freshly baked cookies, water with lemon and mint. Staff is welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. Highly recommend

Beautiful chateau in the French countryside

We had an incredible experience at the Chateau Saint-Gilles. The chateau was built in 1730 but has been completely renovated inside with all of the modern conveniences. Emerick, Anne-Sophie, Margot, and Barbara made sure everything was smooth. The grounds are stunning and the hotel is a perfect distance to all D-Day locations. Breakfast and dinner were amazing and a great way to start and/or end the day. We will definitely go back.

Amazing Place too Stay

Our stay was better than we could have hoped for. The place is in a beautiful quiet setting outside of town. The facility and staff were amazing. We enjoyed the hot tub and sauna did not have time to get a massage but I’m sure it would have been great. We ate dinner there both nights and it was great! The room was great with a large shower/bathroom and lots of space! I can’t say enough how great the staff was and I would without a doubt recommend it to anyone.
