    - Horrible reception desk organization/management. Very nice people at it but dysfunctional. Only one person at reception during peak check out hours while new guest check in too. Couple with 2 babies waited some 20min before me to check out. Horrible and extremely unprofessional. - Outdoor pool hours 10:30am to 8:30pm are kind of restrictive for peak summer time during long daylight. Why guest can not swim, say, at 9am? - Otherwise very good overall impression of the hotel amenities, employees and service.

They advertise on Hotels.com that they have a hot tub, sauna and pool but they really only have a pool that everyone can use. If you want to use the hot tub or sauna, you have to pay 27 euros for adults and 17 euros for kids to use the spa. If you have kids, you can only go to the spa, one time a day, which is super inconvenient and once you get there, it is the worst spa you have ever been to. The hot tubs are not hot, the sauna is joke and does not even use real hat like a Swedish sauna should use and the door to the sauna and steam room is broken and does not even close. I felt scammed and ripped off by the entire experience. The hotel is nice but the food is not very good and the service leaves a lot to be desired. Granted I am an American living in Europe and miss the service level that America has to offer but this place is a a joke. I would never, ever stay at another Barcelo resort. They should get out of the hotel business because they have no idea how to run a hotel.

    Great hotel, skip the spa.

The hotel was excellent, restaurant as well. However I was disappointed by the Spa water spaces. The various showers did not have any pressure and lasted for 10 seconds, the sauna room doors did not close easily and some of the jets in the various jacuzzis did not function, in addition you only get 1 hour a day and you have to reserve it. I would not recommend the spa water experience.

    Resort? Not really.

What a let down this place was. It looks nice in photos and description, but for a "resort" (in the middle of nowhere mind you), this place has a lot to live up for. First off, the rooms have issues... mine, in particular, had a moldy bathtub with mold growing on the shower fixtures and a broken toilet. There is no elevator that goes from the first, ground floor of the main area to the second floor in the rooms in the back, so good luck carrying your luggage up a flight of stairs. Oh there's a lift, but like my toilet, it didn't work the day I arrived. Finally, there's the spa. If you add the spa package to your rate, you get to use the spa...for 1 hour. That's right, 1 whole hour. If you want any messages or things of that nature, you'll get charged extra. Plus, the staff are there to remind you when your hour is up, or in my case, my 50 minutes. They will rush you right out of there. Yes, it's cool that it is a repurposed monastery. Yes, people are somewhat nice. But its definitely not resort caliber. Will never go back.

    Very Peaceful Place

We stayed four nights and enjoyed our stay. We met with friends daily so we did not use the facilities nor did we dine at the restaurant. The beds did not have duvets so it was easier to control how many layers covered you while you slept. Breakfast was excellent lots of selection and very fresh food. Building is full of interesting art. Only negative is that for our room you needed to carry your suitcases up one flight of stairs. There was some type of lift there which we didn’t use. Hotel was very quite and I never heard other guests while in our room. Excellent view of the mountains from our room. Boltaña is a two minute drive and could be walked.

    Awful

Where to begin.. The single worst thing was finding that the toilet wasn't clean in the room. And I don't mean the toilet bowl - I had to scrape "material" off the seat and scrub it before I could use it. On top of that, there was mold in the shower and the faucet was barely fastened to the counter. Check in was ok, but the "offer to show us to our room" consisted of coming out behind the counter and pointing down a long hallway. So we dragged our luggage down the hallway and up a flight of stairs to the elevator. That's fine for me, but it wasn't quite so fine for the 70-year-old couple we saw doing the same. On top of all this, the pool that was shown in the photos was closed. In late June. The hotel itself is located just off the highway in an unremarkable location and the food was mediocre at best. It is a cool building though, so there's that. If you go, eat at the Ara restaurant at the campground. THAT was fantastic.
