Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent evening meal. Not very convenient to go to dinner _ access to the bar/restaurant was outside and the weather is not always good.

6/10 Good

Wasn’t bad wasn’t great. We had a lovely stay however the room could have been cleaned and more equipped. No toiletries in the room but had shoe polish 😂 the room was quite dated and the bathroom was filthy. However we did have a pleasant stay

Very unclean

When first arrived put into a dirty room. Hair and shaver in the bathroom. Carpet had bits all over. Looked like it had not been cleaned. Was moved to a room in the outside lodge which again was unclean. Next day they moved my daughter back to the main hotel as thought it was for me a male and not my daughter of which they say never would put in the lodge as no one else was there. Unfortunately has seen better days. Needs a total update and proper cleaning. Would not have booked here except for being near to where we needed. Very sad as used to be of a very high standard.

2/10 Poor

The worst hotel we have ever stayed at

Where do I start !! Bedroom - no towels. Run out of loo rolls. Toiletries not as described as shown on website. A dress was hanging up in wardrobe (not mine). Bathroom was mouldy Dining room. Carpet needed a vacuum there was chips on the floor at breakfast so clearly no one had vacuumed up from the evening before. it was the same poor state the next day at breakfast. If you state the veggie sausages where quorn then you should serve quorn (though I did get quorn on my second day) The lounge carpet smells really bad hence I decided not to eat in there with the dog Needless to say we won’t come back even if it was free

We booked two rooms for a weekend wedding. The rooms were located on a separate building that we had to walk to down hill or through muddy grass. The two rooms are very outdated and not as clean as we expected. There were loads of spiderwebs and dead both live and dead spiders at the entrance and in the bedrooms. The bathroom had mould and the shower dripped all day and night. The walls are also super thin and we could hear phones vibrating and doors being slammed all around. We also had no choice in weather or not we wanted housekeeping. There was no sign to put on the door so we were surprised to find someone had been in our rooms without our consent. Rooms given were no where near what is advertised on Expedia. The service and staff were fantastic though.

Awful place

We stayed in room 27 which is in a detached lodge house at the end of the carpark. There are a number of self contained rooms. The Carpet on the stairs was thread bare all the way up, the bathroom was very old, and after pressure was non existent. Noise all night, doors banging.

8/10 Very good

I think I would sum up the property as "tired elegance"! staff were very helpful and charming and the food was excellent. It must have been a very grand house at one time - I didn't have a chance to explore outside. It has been 7 years since I visited it last for a funeral wake.

Could be a lovely Hotel

Could be a really lovely Hotel unfortunately the bathroom was in urgent need of upgrading due to a really scratched bath which was also chipped. At first sight we thought it needed cleaned as it was covered in hairs. The shower head came away from the wall and could of hurt the person underneath it. Room furniture was scratched and chipped badly. My partner got locked out the hotel at 1 am on his return. Rang bell many times but was forced to ring myself at 1.30am for me to come down and try to let him in. I could not open the door. There was a paper on the reception desk with the night managers phone number but could not see it from outside. He wrung it over and over but no answer. Eventually the manager came past with earphones and no telephone and I got him to open the door. Not the best experience.

Room change

I stayed here for 4 nights and during the 2nd night there was an issue with the room, and I wanted to change rooms, Millie on reception was very understanding and helpful and sorted me another room out immediately in the lodge for the rest of my stay, I can’t praise her enough for this The food was good and the other staff were friendly and polite

Everything did not stay there
Colin, 1-night trip

Would not reccomend

Wallpaper was coming off the walls in the bedroom, the window had been left open all dayy, which I understand for freash air however the room was freezing, I put the radiator on full but after 3hrs it still wasn't warmed up, I went for a shower and the water was cold, the shower leaked and flooded the bathroom. After a couple more hours the radiators started to feel slightly warm, I went to reception and they said the would have a look but they didn't, second time I went down they said that as the radiator had started to warm they wouldn't move me. The radiator did not fully warm up and the room was freezing all night. Would not reccomend staying here, needs major upgrading to reach an acceptable standard.

Avoid if you can..

Originally put in the annex. As soon as we opened the door, the smell of mould, damp hits you, the condition of the room was poor, dated and tired. The bathroom seals had black mould. I wouldn’t say it was fit for someone to sleep in. It just looked like it had been sat there for 12 months untouched maybe. I called reception and she didn’t seem surprised by my reaction. We had got the room for a good price so I’m not sure if we were out there because of that factor. We were moved into the main hotel building, the room was marginally better. Dated, old, tired, not had a deep clean in a while, stains and rips on the carpet, dust build up, bathroom needs a reseal however the bedding was clean as was the toilet although the towels were so hard and dry. No fan in this room but there was in the original, coffee machine but no pods, the hairdryer was dirty and grimy. I personally wouldn’t recommended this hotel to anyone, we stayed due to location for a friends birthday a few miles away. I appreciate we managed to book at around £20/25 less than the normal night rate but even then, it isn’t good value. Basic requirements barely met, definitely not met in the annex room. Sleeping wise, walls are thin. You can hear your neighbours going to the toilet, running the tap, general chit chat, switching plugs on/off, turning lights on, even turning in bed. You can also hear everything from the corridor as well. The only plus for this hotel was the location for where we needed to go
