Disappointing. 3 things - bed, heat, smell - but some positives too
The 'family' room - not much more than a "bed" (actually a very low platform) and fold-out sofa in a conference room. Both had a thin mattress on them and there wasn't much else - minimalist. Sideboard / desk had a coffee maker, and a ? (radio? retro decor?)
It was hot. My son was in another room and it wasn't as hot, but in the middle of the night, even they had to open the windows (in a city, not ideal - no screens, so besides the noise, lucky a pigeon didn't fly in).
There was no AC (Hotels.com advertises that there is). The helpful desk clerk showed us the AC and heat controls upon check-in. After spending a long time waiting for the room to cool down, I asked at the desk. Turns out they had neither the AC nor heat that they advertise - because it was October in Vienna, they told me their guests didn't need either and it was turned off for the whole hotel.
The smell - there was a chemical floral smell - thought it was some cleaning product. They told me they don't use scented chemical cleaners and would look into it in the morning. We had to leave before we found out.
The bathroom - good! Compact, clean, useful and bath has a door - which is better than the rooms where the shower is actually in the bedroom.
Heard breakfast was great. Focus seems to be on nice extras - movie room, snacks. Need to rethink the basics - came for the city, not the hotel. Also-no staff overnight-off at 21:00
