Beautiful facility with many activities
Whiteface Lodge is a beautiful property with so much to do. From the bathrobes and slippers and giant cookies waiting on your arrival to the complementary skate rentals and hot chocolate in the yurt by the ice rink with a cognac and cigar offering in one of the viewing 'cabins', there were many thoughtful details. The games room even has a bowling alley and the movie theatre provides popcorn. With a spa and hair salon, which we didn't get to try, and even a tunnel to allow you to walk around the lodge in your robe if you wanted to get to the indoor/outdoor pool and hot tubs without going complete family get away. The only shortcoming was the staff- while friendly and well-meaning some appeared to be new and not fully trained. The concierge and reception desk staff could have been more indormative about the local offerings and even the facilities on the property- but there were daily bulletins about events going on. There was no turndown service which was not an issue except it was highlighted on a card by the bedside table. And when we had the buffet breakfast one morning and my husband ordered his from the menu because he hates cold food - his omelette took about an hour and the rest of us had already finished our meal. We asked a couple times to be told it would be just a few minutes the second time and an apology offered only the third time and when the food came. Then the bill came with an error. But valets were very helpful, and overall a wonderful stay!

wonderful family-friendly resort
We were initially assigned a room in an outbuilding with no balcony despite the promise of a balcony on our reservation. It's a long story, but I didn't feel great about being shunted to a mediocre outbuilding given that I had called ahead to discuss the booking and that it was my first time there, so I didn't know what to request. I complained and the front desk made good on the 1 bedroom king suite and things were fantastic from there. We loved our stay and the resort is perfect for a weekend get-away with or without kids. The breakfasts that we enjoyed were delicious and well stocked. The breakfast host was pretty lame (dragging his feet and mumbling...not the best at hosting) but one of the servers was pretty bright and cheery. The singer in the lounge was AMAZING and the mixologist, Zack, was most interesting and genial. His cocktails were on point. The burgers and pizza are the best things the lounge has to offer. REALLY very good truffle fries as well. The skating rink was nice and there are skates in a VERY fancy yurt for you to borrow. (this yurt has a chandelier!) The pool is above standard with heated floors everywhere. S'mores are available by the fireplace at night, coffee and tea and snacks are free and easy to find.

Great Winter Getaway with tons of amenities
We truly enjoyed our time ahead of Christmas at the Whiteface Lodge. Our entire family was comfortable in their spacious suite, and we had plenty to do - based on the fact that there are tons of cold weather activities inside the hotel and outside as well. Our children loved the indoor/outdoor pool, the bowling alley and game rooms, and the kids club activities. The Lodge is close to town, and we accessed dining and shopping in town with no problem. It’s a bit of a drive to Whiteface Mountain, so just be aware that in snowy weather, it’s a good distance. The one aspect of our vacation/stay that we didn’t appreciate as much was the restaurant in the Lodge - named Kanu - which had atrociously SLOW service, and mediocre food. The staff was sort of dismissive about the slowness, and as the restaurant filled up in the evenings, the pace grew slower. At certain points, we had to get up from our table to get things we needed, rather than waiting on the staff to get it. Also, the front desk seemed like they had staff who didn’t know much about the hotel - or the activities in and around the hotel. The valet staff, however, was most excellent. Overall, it was a lovely trip, and if we were to return, we would plan on not dining at Kanu. However, we recommend Whiteface Lodge.

Rest and relaxation
My hubby and I had a great time at this hotel. I'm a photographer and I was enjoying taking photos of their beautiful gardens and butterflies. My husband was enjoying the bowling alley and we were enjoying the game room. The weather was warm and we went swimming at the outside pool and soaking up some rays. The food and service was great. Our room was a suite with a kitchenette and a livingroom with a T.V. The bedroom had a t.v. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub for your achy sore muscles. The bed was comfortable. Housekeeping was great they came twice a day. At turndown they would leave you a package of chocolate chip cookies. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

A lot of kids! Beautiful resort & rooms
The rooms/suites are wonderful - I wish I could've stayed longer; we tried but they were sold out. The decor is mountain and creates a relaxing vibe. There is lots to do with pools, movie theater, snow shoeing, etc. But with the pools come wild and crazy kids running and jumping around (we don't have kids and didn't find this very relaxing). The staff is iffy - some are great and some are useless. When we arrived there was 1 valet there that ignored us, but in dealing with the other ones, they were fabulous, especially Robert who gave us excellent in-town bar and restaurant recommendations. The shuttle downtown is a nice perk, too bad it ends at 6 pm. The front desk staff are pretty useless not upholding the rules in the rulebook, like other guests eating breakfast and dinner in their robes at the restaurant. The resort could do a little more around the property to uphold a premium environment by not letting people in robes in the restaurant and walking around telling wild kids (no parents around) to settle down to create a better environment. Overall liked the resort and would go back in a heartbeat
