Very Good 8.4 From 747 reviews

Very Good 8.0
I just spent 9 nights here. The resort is located at the far end of Kata, with around a 5-10 minute walk to the main shopping strip. Access to Kata beach is straight across the road. There are also a couple of restaurants, massage shops, a minimart, and 24 hour convenience store across the road. Kata Noi beach is also close by. Turn left and head up the hill 10 mins by foot or probably around 5mins by TukTuk. It’s a little quieter that Kata main beach, and is absolutely gorgeous. The resort offers two pools, both are lovely. The pool above the main restaurant is 1.5m in depth and a littler quieter than the larger pool, which is shallower. Both pools have a bar and spa area. The gym is well equipped and a decent size. The room was a good size and had a nice balcony. It was very clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. I had daily buffet breakfast at the restaurant. The staff were lovely and made you feel welcome. The food was good. The resort is embedded in the side of a hill, so has a lot of steps. There are elevators if you choose, however, you can’t avoid taking a few steps. If mobility is an issue, this resort may not be for you. The one downfall for me was the location of the exhaust for the air conditioning unit. It is located near the front door and was very loud at night, making it difficult to get to sleep. Overall, I would be happy to come back.

Exceptional 10.0
Warm and welcoming
After staying in Karon Beach for a week, my son and I had the pleasure of staying here for 8 nights and were really impressed by the genuine welcoming feel we experienced each and every day from virtually all the friendly and efficient staff that work there. The attention to small details in the rooms and general areas was very impressive also, as was the care taken with us when we arrived early to check in. The resort has many rooms spread out over several buildings on various levels, and although our room was on a higher level and was a bit of a climb up a few sets of stairs (which we saw as good exercise), those that are not very mobile or fit may find it difficult, so would be advised to book a lower level room. The room we had was spacious, clean and comfortable and was always well serviced. The choices at the breakfast buffet were great also and the late breakfast time of 11 am really suited us as we never felt rushed to make it each morning. Those with teenage children can appreciate how important that can be. Chanalai Gardens has a good gym and two nice pools and is only a 2 minute walk across the road to the white sandy beach. Although the beach does not have any decent size waves, the temperature of the water is always very pleasant. There is a good range of restaurants, shops and bars nearby catering for all budgets and the area always felt safe and hassle free, unlike nearby areas like Patong. We look forward to returning as soon as we can

Great hotel - Shame we only did 1 night
We were originally booked in to a hotel in Patong, which is not our kind of area. We booked this the day before arriving and the pictures did not do it justice. The check in was good, we got a lovely welcome drink and cool towel. We left our bags at the hotel whilst we went to the beach (2 min walk) whilst we waited for the room to be ready. The room was amazing, we only booked a standard one too. It was clean and had a great view, minus the tree in the middle on the balcony, you could still sea the beach. The hotel is a bit spread out over the hillside so if you have any mobility issues I would avoid. The pool is on the 4th floor, looks good but we didn't use, we went to the beach instead. The breakfast in the morning was OK, nothing special. Like all hotels, the Thai option is always better than the Western option - sausages and ham are all processed. But I stuck to the Thai anyway. Eggs are cooked fresh which is a bit of a pain due to the size of the hotel but I wasn't waiting too long. The only issue I had was that we wanted to extend checkout until 3pm as our flight wasn't until 6pm. We were told we would have to ask the following day to confirm if we can. So I asked about booking the room for an extra night which reception advised against as it wouldn't be worth the extra couple of hours. When we checked in the morning we couldn't extend as the hotel was full.

Poor 2.0
Worst Hotel Experience - Avoid
Everything that can go wrong with a stay, went wrong and its hard to believe it was all by accident.Even check-in and storing luggage at checkout were a hassle. We booked for 3 nights with sea view, they randomly assign for King or 2 Twin beds, no matter what you specify in the booking. We wanted a King, but upon checking in we received 2 twin beds, without notice. We had to ask for a mockup double bed, poorly made out of the 2 beds. The bathroom was super dirrty, all stained and disgusting. So we asked for another room. So they would give us another room for the 2nd and 3rd night, they would "Upgrade to a better room, actually the BEST room they have". Which was exactly the same room, but with a king size bed, and 2 floors higher up (the view was nice) but exactly the same issues: - Air con fan and rattling noise terrible, smelly - Construction noise from outside - Room not clean, Bathroom has water marks, cigarette stubs not cleaned from the veranda, stained bedsheets, sand everywhere, etc - Shower not clean This is an old Hotel, and I would be totally fine with that, since I love vintage stuff. However this is just not maintained at all and staying there you feel that this resort is a Money making machine. Even their best room is sub-par, the breakfast is average at best. So looking at the reviews, the Hotel is TOTALLY overrated and not worth the Money. Maybe all these good reviews are from guests staying off season and paying 50 bucks for a room.

Nice hotel 2min walk from beaches and restaurants
Great hotel and staff delicious in house restaurant friendly staff very accommodating booked all excursions and tours through hotel with a nice discount. Which I recommend instead of booking through untrusted tour guides. Hotel is Near by shopping, night life is vibing bars all with in a nice walking distance. I had the Ocean View which was breath taking there is only one tiny problem with the hotel I had, my bathtub. I went with my boyfriend expecting to be able to shower together like love birds but the tub was too small. We still made it happen but more space would've been nice. I also recommend asking for the magazine and Phucket Map at reception it was a huge help I will most definitely return and have been telling everyone about this hotel, they even offer cooking classes and have a nice out door spot with huge pillows where you can request drinks and just relax. It was just perfect for the setting I was looking for. Quiet area less than 15 minute drive from the party town Paton. I wanted to add in addition a response to some of the reviews complaining about language barriers how dare you go to someone elses country and expect perfect English all my needs where met I felt like most employees spoke enough English to meet all my basic needs.
