A very special hotel and spot in the world. Family run with a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Our room was beautiful. View out over the water. The food is outstanding. Art work by various artists adorns the walls throughout the hotel. And walks through Gougane Barra Park just near by. Highly recommend.

The hotel and staff are lovely. It is very out of the way (which is the point) but surrounded by amazing views of the mountains and lakes. Very serene and quiet. Just the place to unwind, enjoy some solitude with nature and Some lovely meals. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone.

An incredible experience and one of the most beautiful areas I have ever had the privilege to be in. This hotel has been run by the same family since the 1930s and their dedication to hospitality shines through. The food in the restaurant is extraordinary and is prepared with love. You will enjoy the grounds, the bar, the sitting room and everything about Gougane Barra.

The staff made this property shine! It was a beautiful property. But chatting with the owner and his wife (the chef). Was a highlight. Learning the family history was very interesting. They hire amazing people from all over the world who were equally as nice to chat with. The lake was beautiful- breathtaking- even in the rain. The room was smaller- but it’s an older hotel- so to be expected The food! Don’t get me started. Not only was it very good- dinners were a work of art! So talented Thank you. Was lucky to find this place. Helped make our trip magical

The place was amazing, very nice and warm people around. The food could have been better, even though it looked tempting in the menu, the taste needed improvement.

It is a beautiful family owned and run hotel with friendly staff and an outstanding restaurant. The lake view rooms provide a beautiful view of both the lake and church. The rooms are comfortable s and clean. Gougane Barra is my family’s favorite place in Ireland.

Lovely hotel, very clean, the staff were very friendly and efficient. The owner Niall has a word for everybody, and very knowledgeable about the area. the food was amazing and again service was excellent. even though they were very very busy. A boat was available if you wanted to go on the lake. Lastly the walks are amazing. we will definitely be back.

8/10 Very good

Beautiful views. Hotel with lots of character. Comfortable and clean with spacious rooms. Very rural and remote which suited us. Bar is traditional And cosy with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Breakfast included And whilst there was plenty of fruit, cereals and cakes available the cooked menu was extremely sparse....very Small portions... Which disappointed us

Hotel with the Best Views In Ireland

Everything about the hotel was wonderful. The staff were all so lovely. The food was great and were provided generous portion sizes. The rooms provide everything that you need and you cannot better the view. Highly recommend and would certainly return.
