Great hotel in central position for tourists
We stayed for 5 nights on a short break to New York. Check in was very easy and the standard rooms were clean and comfortable. One room was on the front of the building and one at the back. We would definitely recommend a room towards the back as the front facing room was very noisy. The beds were comfortable but one of the rooms had non cotton sheets that were very hot. The air conditioning was very welcome as the weather was very hot both day and night. Hotel staff were in the main very professional and accommodating (even when I rang at 5.30 am as the coffee machine was not working). Would have rated the staff as excellent except that one or two of the receptionists were quite abrasive at times. Two of the receptionists were outstanding. Very informative with great local knowledge, nothing was too much trouble and they were interested in how our day had been. There was coffee, cereal bars and fruit available in the morning, and a selection of M+M's nuts etc available during the day along with cans of drink in the lounge area. The water stations on the floors with small bottles were great for taking with you on your travels. The hotel is not high rise with stunning views of the city, but it is 2 blocks from Times Square, close to the subway and a 15 minute walk from central Park. We are already planning our next trip and will definitely stay at the same hotel. If you visit, be sure to ask staff about local diners and restaurants for breakfast and evening food. .

Great location and wonderful staff
I stayed here for 11 nights. The staff here was fantastic!! They were friendly, attentive, helpful, and just all-around nice folks. The room was a bit old but the bed linens were white and clean. The desk was large and the room included a good-sized mini-fridge -- which was very important when you stay anywhere for almost 2 weeks! The view was mediocre -- I spent my evenings staring at empty offices and apartments in the building next door -- and you could only see the sky if you pulled open the blinds to the VERY TOP. The windows were begging to be cleaned -- it was actually hard to see out of one of the two windows. (I almost bought Windex and paper towels because it was making me crazy!) The room was quite spacious and had a large modern armoire and a comfy arm chair. The staff brought me lots of extra hangers for my clothes almost immediately after I requested them. There was no in-room safe, which was a bit of a pain, but the front desk had a safe-deposit-style box that I used the entire time I was there. I would bring them my computer every morning and pick it back up every evening. They were always friendly and quick to take care of it every day. The free soda and snacks that were available throughout the day were a great bonus! The location is so convenient for access to subways, close to lots of inexpensive food places, and near great shopping. The only downside of the place is the elevators -- they are old and slow...very slow.

Poor 2.0
Do not be fooled by the photos or the rating: this is not even close to a “four star” hotel. In fact, it was the worst overnight experience I’ve ever had in NYC. Lived there for six years and have been staying in hotels there for work for 20 years. In no way should you ever consider staying at this hotel. The hotel room was effectively a cross between a creepy college dorm room and where a kidnapper might hold you for ransom. Rough sheets, terrible bed. No in-room safe, so either don’t bring your laptop/valuables here or take them with you every time you leave the room. Blinding bathroom light. No bell staff to help with bags. Elevator barely fits 2 people. Front desk staffer says “free bottled water on every floor” - except that was a lie, there’s isn’t any on the 4th floor, where my room was. Went down to lobby, and spoke to a manager type - “oh no, not on the 4th floor - just take the stairs up or down a floor”. Did I mention you need to go through two weird fire doors to get to your room, in a hallway that passes an open-air staircase like you’d see in a junior high school? Oh, and be sure to specify a room across from 45th street side, otherwise you will be treated to garbage trucks and delivery trucks loudly banging and wheezing literally ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT. AGAIN: THE WINDOWS SUCK AND STREET NOISE WILL KEEP YOU UP. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO SLEEP IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM, DO NOT STAY HERE. I got one hour of sleep before I had to get up for my breakfa

I don't think I'll return to Midtown branch again
I have stayed many times at this branch but I don't think I will bother again. I had nine nights booked and then a further four nights a few days later. I had stayed at the World Trade branch for three days and much preferred the location and the hotel amenities. When I arrived at the midtown branch I was given a room with a side bed, the headboard is long ways. I couldn't lie down on it without rolling off! Where your head should be, there is a large metal air conditioning unit so if I had rolled off and hit my head on the edge I probably would be dead. Then there was the very strong smell of funny tobacco! I went down to report this and the staff came upstairs and could smell it but could not find where it was coming from. It could be smelt all the way to the basement - the room was on the 8th floor! I asked to be transferred back to the World Trade branch and luckily they had a room and so off I went. the staff at Midtown are lovely, especially a young lady called Destiny, who stayed very calm when I complained. She has a bright future in hotel management. Then the icing on the cake. I called my parents back in the UK and used the phone in my room for 11 minutes and I was charged $103!! I have asked for a refund from Richard Calderon, but he has yet to respond. So in future I think I will either try a Hilton or stay at the World Trade branch where the hotel is newer and still within a short subway ride to midtown.

More than you can ask for!
The only place I will stay in when I travel to NYC is the Club Quarters Grand Central located directly across from the station and the post office at the corner of 45th and Lexington. It’s amazing to me that such a talented staff works in one place. Lola, Chris, Zishan, Shuba, Bryan, Rey, Mustafa, Jason and Debbie welcome you personally and will not forget about you during your stay. CSR’s Sasa, Ben, David, are very fast and efficient in their response to your request. Chances are you will not have any requests because every traveler’s need is satisfied before you arrive. It goes without saying that the rooms are kept immaculately clean by Carmen, Bao, Brittany, Toby and Eraila. Now for the amenities....free Long Island wine served on the 27th floor from 5-6pm daily. Various cheeses and other snacks as well. Chris has a personality to beat the band as he engages everyone in the room. I find the experience to be the best part of my day as everyone is socializing, sharing NYC tips on places to go and either winding down from the day or gearing up for the night! Last but certainly not least, Ralph Renz the General Manager, thoroughly enjoys his profession and his staff. You really can’t miss on the Club Quarters!
