The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are exceptionally well maintained. There are some lovely communal areas that have good decor. The food was good, service was slow. It's a very relaxing place to be - as our party was there for work, I would definatly return for a holiday.

The communal areas of the property are lovely, the staff are nice and the food at the hotel is delicious (breakfast and dinner). However the bedrooms are extremely dated- ours looked like a cross between a shabby blackpool b&b and a condemned retirement home, which was extremely disappointing and not the 4 star experience we were expecting.

Stayed for one night in a twin room with my 6 year old son. The room was spacious and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful checking us in. We used the pool which he loved. Breakfast was tasty with a wide choice. Before checking out we had a small walk round the grounds where he was able to run around and explore. We both enjoyed it and hopefully we will get a chance to return soon.

The majestic old hotel might be dated to some, but there is a lot of character on show. The staff were excellent, even during storm Boelo when there were power issues and access difficulties with fallen trees. They quietly put on free tea and coffee for stranded guests waiting for the road to reopen. Evening meal was excellent, fish and chips excellent again. Breakfast was varied and plentiful, lots of good options, fresh scrambled egg, but sausages let it down as none of us could determine any flavour to them. Bedrooms in the garden wing are dated, but great if you want a bath. Beds as always were massive and gave excellent support.

The hotel is gradually being upgraded, new electric charging points and a new jacuzzi in the pool area were of note. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful The golf course was in reasonable condition and challenging in the windy conditions. Definitely an improvement over the last few years.

Beautiful grounds and the building is stunning. Staff were friendly and the food was good. Our rooms were big with two en suite bathrooms, one with tub and one with shower. We didn’t use the swimming pool or golf course but they looked good. Down side: no lift/elevator to dining room or to our bedrooms and it would benefit from upgrades- no electric outlets near the bed head. We were disappointed, given the lack of elevators, that check-in staff didn’t offer to help with luggage.

Didn't have breakfast as it was £15 so we had yoghurts in the room. Was disappointed that the gym was £10 per person and this was not mentioned at the time of booking. Given that this was the reason I booked the hotel, I was a bit annoyed. Probably won't be back. Food was good and staff were lovely.

The hotel sits in beautiful grounds and has plenty of parking, including several EV chargers which was very convenient. The rooms appear very dated but very clean and spacious. Sound definitely travels throughout and we could easily hear our neighbours. The staff were friendly. We enjoyed a tasty roomservice meal, although it felt overpriced.

Set in extensive quiet grounds affording peace and quiet for your stay, whilst being only a 5 minute drive to the A75 for onward travel. My wife and I have been back to Cally Palace several times now and always find the experience enjoyable and relaxing. The hotel is a grand old building which we always find to be clean and comfortable with very friendly and welcoming staff. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. There is a small pool with a jacuzzi and sauna that we enjoy. Breakfast offers a wide variety and the cooked breakfast is a buffet which is kept regularly stocked so is hot and fresh. The restaurant overlooks the golf course and you can occasionally see deer grazing during your meal. We had an evening meal which was new for our stay on a German Oktoberfest theme which we thoroughly enjoyed. The surrounding area has plenty of cycling and walking and there are a couple of local distilleries which are worth a visit. This time round we timed our stay to coincide with the annual Wigtown Book Festival and managed to attend a few interesting talks, including the closing talk with Sam Heughan who incidentally owns the Galloway Distillery at Newton Stewart. We are always sorry to leave the area but are already planning our next trip.

Beautiful old hotel. Very dog friendly. Views are amazing. Bedroom was very large and clean but needs bit of refurbishing. Found bedroom doors were a bit noisy when closing. As the weather was excellent we enjoyed sitting in our balcony relaxing and enjoying the view. Good walks. Great pool and hot tub. Had our breakfast in the conservatory as we could take our dog in with us. Breakfast was a good buffet selection. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Fully enjoyed our stay and will return.

The wecome I recieved at the hotel was second to none, warm friendly & eceptionally helpful. The hotel room was well maintained despite being obviously aged. I took a swim & jacquzzi which was warm & very enjoyable. I would definately return to the hotel, hopefully for longer next time.

Everything seemed a little run down. For a ‘more modern’ Forest wing I didn’t expect 1980’s furniture and a TV sat on an Ikea Kallax system. The room was large, bed uncomfortable. Shower again was another relic from the 80’s-90’s. Although it did work. I couldn’t shut the windows and I didn’t feel entirely safe as there was no safety latch. The walls were also paper thin and a lot of banging due to the door locks. Positives. Pool was great. Large and warm. Food excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Views, beautiful.
