Definitely a great spot to stay in Milan
The hotel was beautiful and situated right near many of the historical areas. You could walk to them within 10 minutes as well as the shopping district. It was all quite nearby. The room was very clean and roomy. The bed was very comfortable. Elevator to get to upper floors or spiral staircase if you felt like walking. The staff was overall very helpful, however we found that their restaurant doesn't offer anything gluten-free. Out of the 13 towns & cities we visited in Italy on our trip, we came to discover that Milan was the least gluten-free friendly. The front desk staff gave us an emphatic NO when asked if anything was gluten-free. This was problematic because we happened to be there during a holiday when many places were closed so the options to eat became even more limited. It was disappointing that it was so easy to find gluten-free options since everyone basically offers them in so many small towns (like Santa Margherita Ligure) or bigger cities (like Florence, La Spezia, and Genoa) to then arrive in a large city like Milan and discover they are behind the ball on that front. Continental breakfast was great if you eat can eat gluten, but limited if you can't and didn't offer any vegan milk alternatives we saw at other hotels (like rice milk).

Exceptional 10.0
Fantastic executive suite at lovely hotel.
Very nice Milan hotel on edge of historic district. Lovely lobby. Very good and very plentiful breakfast buffet. Cheerful, helpful front desk staff. There are two classifications of room: classic and executive. Stayed in executive room (WOW) which was quite amazing with enormous bathroom that had both tub and a shower stall. The shower had a switch to enable soothing colored lights. The mirror had a built-in tv screen - awesome! The room was huge with wonderfully comfortable bed and great pillows. Also big flat screen, desk, couch and 2 mini fridges. Enormous walk-in closet with shelves and clothing rod & hangers. The room had ability to have different recessed colored lights. Comfy robe and slippers, lots of thirsty towels. The room was expertly cleaned daily and the cleaning staff were very polite. Loved the delicious little chocolates placed on the pillow. Hotel is located beginning of Brera district just on edge of historical district . Very nearby is the huge Giardini Pubblici 18th centry public park. The park hosts an amazing 3 day flower expo and sale in May - there is a cost to enter and it was well worth it for anyone who enjoys flowers. There were all manner of roses, orchids, herbs, annual and perennial flowers, water garden plants, succulents, cacti, on & on. There were crafters and food vendors as well. The walk to La Scala is approx 20 minutes, to the Galleria and Duomo just a few minutes more. Thank you Hotel Cavour for a wonderful stay !

Exceptional 10.0
3 night staff October 2018
Stayed 3 nights in October with 2 young teenagers. Room was fantastic, modern, clean, spacious very well equipped, quiet at night and very comfortable. Hotel location is great in that close enough to the centre to walk (10 mins to cathedral) but not overly noisy at night etc. Staff are very welcoming and friendly overall, with the exception of the majority of staff working at breakfast and that's probably only because they seemed particularly understaffed so were ridiculously busy. Breakfast buffet selection and quality was good, but a wait for breakfast each day and no signs to show other room was open as an overflow facility. Hotel restaurant food was exceptional but pricey, and bar snacks were good and a lot more reasonable on price. Bar guy was very professional and efficient. Two happy teenagers, and a hotel I'd stay in for business or holiday because of the quality of the facilities, friendly staff and location.

Stay elsewhere
We redeemed our free night here, and unfortunately just weren't thrilled with our experience. The location of the hotel was great, but that's about it. Service was generally nice, but there were a couple of folks at the front desk who just weren't at all friendly (the woman who checked us in was lovely, the gentleman who checked us out, not so much). Our room was not good. Size was fine, but there were stains on the carpet and there was a large dead bug under the window. And I hate to leave this here, but I have to -- I'm pretty sure we had bed bugs as we both woke with bites on our bodies. UGH. The breakfast wasn't great either. I had bacon and almost spit it out because it was SO salty. My husband left his croissant because it was hard and way over baked. Unfortunately I just can't reco this hotel.

Very Good 8.0
This is a beautiful elegant hotel in the heart of bustling Milan. It was the perfect location for us within moderate walking distance to many of the historical locations we visited, as well as restaurants. The staff was attentive to our every need (including storing our extra luggage after we had checked out, but were staying for a tour) offering great dining suggestions (Stendhal, a short walk away, offered a most excellent dining experience!). Daniele(?) at the front desk was particularly helpful and friendly! Breakfasts were delicious with a very complete buffet. The suite was large & comfortable, offering robes, slippers, hair dryer, mini-bar/fridge, couch and VERY firm beds. The only downside was after a busy day sightseeing, we opted to eat in the hotel restaurant which was convenient, with good service, but unfortunately only mediocre.
