"It was fine for one night stay. Would not return considering price vs value. Small rooms with wall-to-wall carpets that needs a deep clean. The hallway outside the rooms had no lighting, so finding the keyhole at night was challenging. Cobwebs and spiders in the ceiling and over the corridor entrance. The property in general is not very well kept. Needs gardening, paintjobs and upgrades here and there. Everything is falling apart. It was also a strange ambiance in the bar/restaurant area. I came in to order a glass of wine and found 4-5 young people hanging in and around the bar. Apparently all staff. One girl is standing inside the bar cleaning glasses, so naturally I ask her for a wine glass. One of the boys hanging outside the bar then jokingly tells me she is not a waiter. He gets the wine himself while the rest if the staff whispers and giggles as I wait. I ended up asking for a bottle of Morgon and two glasses and when he is opening the bottle he asks if I want to taste it, before I could answer I got a comment of "how I probably do not want to taste the wine anyway", which was strange to me. We ate dinner in the restaurant later and it was the same staff. The food was fine, but the service was lack luster. Our table got little to zero attention. Maybe because we are not French. We stay in the area every year and used the Logis hotel in Fleurie last year and Château de la Barge previous years, they are a lot better and within the same price range. "

"Travelling to the south, this is perfectly located. We had our dog with us which was welcome for a small fee - the hotel is surrounded by fields offering fantastic exercise opportunity after a day in the car. Pool looked very nice but we didn’t have chance to use it - opened at midday and we needed to leave before then. We had pizzas which were good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would stop by again. "

"A hidden gem!! We broke down in Tournus due to a puncture, had to wait two days for new tyres, but managed to find this hidden gem, everything about it was amazing and could not fault it, pool, food and especially Catharine who helped us with taxis and speaking to the garage on our behalf, it certainly took away the pain of missing two days of our holiday, would and have recommended to all friends. Well done Catharine and team, you have an amaing hotel."

"The hotel staff were very helpful but while the bedding and linen was very nice the room needs a good clean and dusting. We always check the room for our belongings before leaving, always check nothing has fallen under the bed. It made me sick to see the dirtiness and dust under the bed."

"Was only hotel in area I wanted to be. Very small room, and bathroom. Later than normal check in time. Various staff, most try to be helpful. Breakfast cost was high for continental type. Couple of breads, cakes, cereal, drinks. One nice aspect is location is close to rest / truck stop with 4-5 places to eat, but high costs. Gas station has supermarket. Need a vehicle for doing anything around area. Rural country area other than main highway. They seem to keep many rooms booked, since only hotel around. Overall rating compared to other hotels is a level 1 star type hotel. "

"The Hotel Les Saules is a wonderful hotel that is a must for that trip away for any reason. The staff are personable and welcoming; very professional. Vonnas is this beautiful little town in France that is a hot bed of culinary excellence and the gem of the hospitality industry. Our room was lovely and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean and well thought out. Our room looked out over the square of the town which also served as the parking lot for everything, yet it was part of the park. We had a balcony where you could order breakfast, but don't do that. Go to the breakfast they have at their neighboring restaurant. It must be a training ground for the next set of Michelin star chefs. The food was beyond amazing. It was not overpriced and worth every penny that you pay. Everything is fresh and delicious. NOTE: Make reservations in their restaurant in advance especially during the summer season. There are two types of services: the restaurant and the Food Tasting Menu. The restaurant is ala carte and the Food Tasting Menu is expensive, but if you are a foodie, this is your moment of joy. RESERVATIONS for either are a must. Everything is close by and quaint. Definitely a highlight of our stays."

"Ten minute walk from Macon Loche TGV station en route from Paris to Macon area. Very convenient. Arrived after Reception was closed but phoned the number on the door and was directed to my room and the key card. Hopefully I will use the hotel again next year. Will have breakfast there next year too."

"We parked our motorbike outside our room on the ground floor. Nice spacious room, but we had to run the bath tap for 10 mins to clear out the black grunge. Bathroom was good size also. We dined there and breakfasted. The bill was all mixed up, I think we overpaid slightly."

"Very efficient check in and out. Excellent front desk staff. Big room. High ceilings. Beds were very comfortable! Only criticism was bathroom lighting poor for applying makeup. "

"Used as a stop over on our way back to the UK from South France. Family room with a double in one room and 2 twins in the other. Hard to come across for €150. Very clean and comfortable beds. The missus snored all knight though! "

"A unique property with a lovely family run feel. The family room had 3 single beds in an adjoining room, the rooms were clean and well furnished. Breakfast was bread, cereal, cake, juice and coffee. The room was quiet and I had a really great nights sleep. "

"Pleasant hotel and very good position for getting on/off motorway en route south. Comfortable room and comfy beds! No aircon and room very hot ...it was 33° outside. Had to open window which meant lots of flying things came in! Nice to get a kettle in the room.....a definite plus when in France. Most hotels do not offer this. Only gripe is paper cups...our drinks , both hot and cold began to seep through the bottom of them! Please use proper mugs! Good breakfast although basic!"
