Lava-field base with cozy nights

Hotel Klaustur sits right off the Ring Road, directly opposite the Eldhraun lava fields, making it a practical base for South Iceland drives. Interiors take cues from local wildlife and landscapes, with artwork of Icelandic horses, Lakagígar craters, and erupting volcanoes. Even better, the eco-friendly stay runs entirely on hydroelectric power.

  • Klaustur Restaurant

Farm-to-table menus spotlight local produce, Skyr, and lava-field-raised Arctic char.

  • Aurora wake-up calls

Personalized alerts help guests catch the Northern Lights from their own room.

  • Easy nature drive-outs

Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon is 12 km away for a quick hit of dramatic scenery.

Nice hotel. Only complaint - expensive for what you get. But that seems to be true for everything in Iceland. A small brew pub located nearby has great burgers and service.
