We were delighted by our experience at Stracta. Glad we upgraded to the room with the fridge/microwave as we were there 4 nights and made good use of the “kitchen.” Bed and linens were extremely comfortable. Loved the shower!! The front desk staff were lovely. The breakfast buffet is diverse and delicious. We had one dinner in the restaurant which was also very good. The location is so convenient to much of the most popular attractions in Iceland. It’s a huge hotel but feels very intimate.

I do not expect when I stay at a 4 star hotel to have to walk outside to my room in the pouring rain. My room was in some annex of this hotel which was outside of the mail building. My stay was neg from the Receptionist who, the minute I walked in walked away on her cell for 15 minutes, to the room that had dead bugs in it. The only redeeming quality of this hotel were the 2 female bartenders, they were friendly and helpful. If I could give this hotel a negative number I would!! I do not recommend.

We had a great stay here for one night. We stayed in a Superior Double room, and it was spacious and clean. The shower had a door, which we appreciated - since many of the other places we stayed would only have a small glass panel and it was very hard to not get the bathroom soaked! The breakfast had everything you need to start your day and they have a restaurant on site that has a decent selection. Found the location convenient for where we were the day before and heading the next day. *Note that you do have to walk outside a touch to get to your room.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was above average with multiple choices. We also enjoyed the hot tub and saunas. Negatives are that there are limited restaurant choices in the immediate area (need to travel 10-30 minutes for better selections) and the front desk girl was not pleasant. Acted like she did not want to be there. Witnessed her being short with multiple customers and negative attitude was consistent during our multiple night stay. Will try to stay in Selfoss or Vik area next time. The American SchoolBus Cafe was definitely worth a stop if you are passing through Hella.
