Nishimuraya Honkan was one of the most incredible hotels I've stayed at, a real highlight in our trip to Japan. The room was fantastic as were the hotel facilities (which include a great onsen) and the team too.
The kaiseki dinners in the room were utterly incredible and the Japanese breakfast each day was a delight.
We loved it.

This hotel was the highlight of our Japan Trip. We loved experiencing a traditional Ryokan. The staff was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The onsen at the hotel was a great experience as well. We loved how Kaori hosted us for the Kaiseki dinner at our room. It was very interesting to try all the traditional dishes from Japan.

The staff was incredible at this gorgeous property. A superb multi course dinner and breakfast were served in our room each day.
The room also includes a pass to all the public onsen, but the hotel also has two
Onsen for guests. I was the only one using them when I went.
We hated to leave, and plan to return. I give this hotel the highest marks.

Deserving of its Stellar Reputation
Wonderful stay. Friendly, professional and accommodating staff from the moment we drove up to the property to when we depart. The staff even helped to sort out our luggage delivery to the next accommodation in another city. Our hostess Matsuri was sweet, polite and gracious.
The property itself is beautiful and exudes an old-world charm, and our room with in-room onsen is such a treat. The meals we had were also delicious and thoughtfully prepared and presented.
We had a lovely time at Nishimuraya Honkan and hope to return again.

The premises were absolutely gorgeous and tranquil. The room attendant Mr. Koyama’s hospitality was excellent. Having been living away from Japan, for too long, I cannot judge the Kaiseki
cuisine… it did look very beautiful… I was hoping a little more of the crab in season. I wished I could have stayed an extra day or two. Thank you!

BOOK THIS HOTEL! Loved our stay and totally worth the 2.5 hour train ride from Osaka. Was able to check in promptly at 3 p.m. and our bags were whisked away to our room. We immediately received our onsen pass and were able to get in a bath before our kaiseki dinner. The next morning we were able to explore more of the public baths and had an amazing breakfast. The town shops open around 11 a.m. so you can really get away with one overnight stay if not more. Beautiful property, relaxing stay and a nice option to visit a tattoo friendly onsen town

さすが西村屋さん
さすが老舗と言われるほどの旅館でした。宿は古いですがサービスが行き届いていて、すごく素敵な日を過ごせました。
私が泊まった部屋は、部屋から庭に出ることが出来るのですが、他の人に庭から部屋の中まで見れてしまうので注意が必要です。あと、自販機が宿にないので購入していくことを勧めます。

部屋はもちろん大浴場も常に綺麗でした。朝食は洋食と和食をいただきました。どちらも美味しかったですが、やはり和食の方が宿的にも推しなのか、品数など力が入っているように思います。迷うなら、和食がオススメです。妊娠後期に宿泊したのですが、帰りにお守りをくださいました。ホスピタリティに溢れた素敵なお宿です。価格的に気軽に泊まれないですが、機会があればまたぜひ泊まれたらと思います。

- staff generally very friendly and helpful
- quality of food is very good
What could be better:
- Very expensive for what it is
- Rooms are fairly basic
- be prepared to be woken up early as the beds are taken away by 8am

it was the best ryokan experience ever could be imagine! Service is outstanding. The staff deal with us, westerners, in the most gracious manner possible explaining things about which we were ignorant. Food was great. Rooms and the garden are beautiful. It is an expensive property but it worths every penny of it.

An amazing experience staying at Nishimuraya Honkan ! Hotel staff were attentive from the moment we booked, to our stay and waving us good-bye. The hotel and garden was very beautiful. On the morning of check-out I went to the hotel’s onsen around 9am and got the whole place to myself ! So relaxing and calming. A unique experience staying in a traditional Japanese ryokan. Dinner and breakfast was a culinary delight! Haru was our host for mealtimes and she was so attentive and added to our overall experience.
The whole town is charming and very picturesque and you've got 7 onsens to choose from. All the ryokan provide their guest with Yakata to wear around town which added more charm to the town. Definitely worth a side trip to Kinosakin Onsen when visiting Japan.
