The Grand Palace was a lovely place to stay. Super close to the centre and quiet enough to not be disturbed by the nightlife. The space fulfilled all our needs and loved how comfortable everything was. The host, Josep, was extremely accommodating and easily contactable. Lots of information provided by Josep about where to eat, visit and get the most out of Split. Great location, high comfort and a complete experience living within the Diocletian Palace!

You cannot beat this location in Old Split. The Palace is in itself a thriving center with residents, shops, and great food, yet also a distinct part of ancient history and an architectural wonder. The room was quiet and comfortable and the AC was welcome on the hot days. We would absolutely stay here again!

Room was initially clean, service was poor after.towels changed after 2 nd day. Never saw any staff except guy who met us at bus from airport. Kitchen didn't function at all. Zero. No food service . AC usually ok. Wooden Path over to building decayed some serious holes in it.

Beautiful room, large, roomy, clean with a kitchen and amazing view over the harbor and over the old town. It was the only place out of four we stayed in Croatia that had an elevator! I’m partial to hotels that have staff, this was a room and the handoff process seemed rushed and cash only for the city taxes. The unit needed a cutting board and the coffee pods tasted old. Out the harbor side window lies a bar, we could hear their house vibes going into the morning hours.

My husband and I spent three nights at Tale of the Sea, which is literally part of the walls of Diocletian’s Palace. I loved the location; everything was in walking distance and easy to get to. Since the windows face the Riva, which is the esplanade separating the palace and Old Town from the harbor, it could be somewhat loud (there is a club across the street that had a thumping bass going on until 11 or 12 on one of the nights), but I will say that the stone walls are thick and if the windows are latched closed, the sounds of the main drag were barely discernible. The homes immediately adjacent to the building are not as well kept as the inn. There was unfortunately no communication about check-in procedures even though I had responded promptly to their request for our arrival time, When we arrived at the stated time, there was some confusion as there was no one to meet us and we didn’t have a way to get in, so had to call for the codes. The room is lovely albeit small, which wasn’t an issue, since we were always out exploring the town. A note about location- I personally loved being inside the palace walls but would caution anyone who isn’t great with stairs- and LOTS of them- that it might not be for you. You have to carry your luggage up and down many flights of ancient limestone steps to get in and out and also use them to get anywhere and everywhere within the walls, so you might be more comfortable outside if mobility is a concern.

Our stay at this apartment was fantastic. The building is currently being renovated in the stairway but the room was beautiful! The location is perfect inside the walls of the palace, close to everything including shops, restaurants and bars. The only downfall we found was the lift wasnt working but im sure this will be part of the renovations. The host was more than happy to assist with our bags and communication was clear and simple through Whatsapp. Highly recommend anyone going to Split to stay here! We definitely will if we ever get the opportunity!

The location was in within the walls of the old town palace. The rooms were very clean and modern. We could walk easily to excellent restaurants within minutes. We did have a problem gaining access to the prpperty in the there was no on-sight staff. And we had to enlist the help of a shop owner to call the property manager to come get us to take us to the facility and give us keys, etc. It would help to have information provided a day prior to our stay - such as access codes and directions for how to find the facility.
