Learn more about North Lake Tahoe

Between the Sierra Nevada mountains and North America's largest alpine lake, you'll find a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Glide down slopes at Palisades Tahoe or Northstar California Resort in winter. Summer brings paddleboarding on crystal-clear waters or hiking trails with panoramic views. Kings Beach State Recreation Area offers perfect swimming and sunbathing spots. The Stateline Lookout rewards with breathtaking vistas after a moderate climb. Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area transforms into a mountain biking haven when snow melts. Local taverns serve craft beers with lake views that make plastic cups seem like crystal flutes. For a quieter experience, Agate Bay's shoreline provides peaceful respite from the more popular beaches.

February 1st, and snow is sparse in Tahoe. We parked at the Brockway Summit Parking, but crossed the road and headed up the mountain on Spur Trail. It was warm and quiet.

About a 2 mile hike up to the vista point, and the view was not disappointing! Gorgeous lake and the company of good friends.
