"The Freehand is a funky little hotel located near Michigan Ave and the waterfront in Chicago. The decor is cool, with a dark reddish vibe. There is a comfortable lounge, a nice bar, and a cafe. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. There is a gym though I didn’t see it. And they held onto our suitcases for us after we checked out while we did a day full of activities before going to the airport.
Cons - the room and bathroom were small and very tight. Our room door was difficult to open and close. The cafe was not serving breakfast the one day I was there without explanation. The bar had a very small wine selection - no Chardonnay. The front desk was usually manned by only one person and they had to answer the phone while we were trying to check in and out.
It was fine for our purposes, and not too expensive, but even though I gave it 4 stars I probably would not stay there again. I need a little more room and doors that close safely."

"When arrived for check in to pay for room i booked with Expedia had no idea that i had to pay $100 a night for security deposit which was never mentioned to me with the hotel manager he helped us out with that we we’re able to get our rooms."
"Beautiful area and close to everything. We walked to all the key places. The view from our bedroom was nice, but the room itself was a bit smaller than expected, the AC was noisy, and the tub fixture was not well-maintained (maybe only in that specific room). The staff was friendly and our trip was pleasant."
