Things to see in Chalco

The parks and facilities of the Chalco Hills Recreation Area lies at the heart of this suburb and overlooks Wehrspann Lake. There are soccer pitches, playgrounds, and a baseball field here. But most activity involves the lake in one way or another—strolling around its trails, paddling around its creeks, or casting a line to hook one of the many fish in its waters. Werner Park provides a distraction to those who like their sports, with the stadium being home to the Omaha Stormchasers, the city's minor league baseball team. There are also a few rural attractions as you move out of the city to the Southwest, like Vala's Pumpkin Patch. This is a great family-friendly farm experience that includes slides, mazes, and train rides. And those with kids will also love the Defy Gravity Indoor Trampoline Park, a place perfectly made for bouncing all of that energy away.

Good for families

Chalco's greatest asset is its location—just outside of Omaha's busy downtown districts, but still well-connected thanks to I-80 cutting through it, and Chalco makes a great place to stop over for those traveling through. But it can also be a good base for families and couples wanting a relaxing vacation. The neighborhood is quiet and affordable, while top-draw attractions like Henry Doorly Zoo are still within reach, just a few miles up the highway. And business travelers coming to the local commerce parks will appreciate the many efficient, modern Chalco hotels.
