This museum was previously the Lei Yue Mun Fort, and was a particularly important place during World War II. The exhibitions cover a wide range of history, from the Ming Dynasty all the way to the present day. Not only a great cultural attraction, it also affords superb views of the mountains and Kowloon. Within walking distance of the museum is a peaceful temple–Shau Kei Wan. It is dedicated to the Chinese Goddess of the Sea, Tin Hau, reflecting the fishing village heritage of the area. The Hong Kong Film Archive is perfect for film buffs, especially fans of Hong Kong cinema. It features exhibitions on filmmaking, and has a screening room showing old movies.

If you’re looking to visit Hong Kong by yourself, Taikoo Shing could be just the ticket. As a largely residential area, it has more of a local feel than its neighboring districts, so it’s perfect for solo travelers who like to steer clear of the touristy areas and experience the city as locals do. There are beautiful parks to take a stroll and enjoy some solitude, such as the Quarry Bay Park along the waterfront. How to get to Taikoo Shing

The easiest way to reach Taikoo Shing from the United States is via Hong Kong International Airport. You can take flights from cities across the US, including New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Once at the airport, you’ll find the quickest way to travel to Taikoo Shing is by car or cab, which takes around 40 minutes. Alternatively, you can take public transportation to reach your Taikoo Shing hotel. The Airport Express train goes direct to Kowloon Station. From here you can take the A12 bus the remaining distance, with the entire journey taking just over an hour and a half.
