How to get to Del Mar
Del Mar lies 20 miles north of central San Diego, just off the I-5. Those flying into San Diego International Airport are probably best off hiring a car at the airport—Del Mar is then less than 30 minutes' drive away. There is the romantic option of taking the Pacific Surfliner train, but you'll need to get a taxi to the Old Town Transit Center at the airport. Then you'll need a taxi at the other end—the train only stops at Solana Beach, about 5 minutes' drive from Del Mar. For travel in Del Mar itself, the neighborhood’s small size makes walking a real pleasure for getting around.
