Found: 2025’s best wellness retreats

Resorts in beautiful settings are innately restorative—so it makes sense that so many host residencies by wellness practitioners. As 2025 gets underway, plan your own trip to one of them for a spiritual, emotional, or physical reboot. First up, experience ancient, bliss-inducing Ayurvedic practices led by Indian healer Suraj Varma at Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman, beginning in February. Another option is to join holistic wellness specialist Braj Raj Singh, who takes up residency at JA Manafaru Maldives this spring, offering sound baths and chakra-healing massage therapies. Come May, therapist Vasavi Kumar arrives at Tulum’s idyllic Palmaïa – The House of AïA to host a retreat that will tackle guests’ limiting beliefs to induce a sense of purpose and intentionality—a process the hotel says will prove “challenging but life-changing.” 

New year, new hotels 

A new year is a handy excuse for more vacation planning, and a number of 2025’s top hotel openings promise to be well worth a visit. Take Auberge Hotels’ Collegio alla Querce in Florence (due to open in March), a converted schoolhouse set across three 16th-century buildings: The original chapel remains, but the principal’s office has been transformed into a handsomely stocked bar. Further north, the sustainable 1 Hotel Copenhagen (due to open mid 2025) should be a natural fit for this eco-minded city; expect farm-to-table dining and a serene Bamford Wellness Spa. Finally, in the heart of New York City, the pet-friendly Kimpton Rockefeller Center (late 2025) will feature the perfect date spot: a rooftop bar offering some of the city’s most dazzling views.

To launch its limited-edition clothing line in collaboration with Madrid-based brand Late Checkout, Ritz-Carlton has debuted a super-chic film shot at its Hong Kong skyscraper hotel and starring The Hunger Games’ Josh Hutcherson. Attired in the collection’s retro-glam tracksuits, sweaters and tees, the cast looks seriously stylish. But it isn’t the only hotel brand to offer a trendsetting partnership: Paris artist Thomas Lélu’s quirky handwritten quotes now adorn a series of totes and notepads at W Hotels globally. In Dallas, Hôtel Swexan’s Cowboy Concierge helps guests to create custom cowboy boots with local specialists Miron Crosby. While at Hotel Zoo Berlin, guests cozy up in plush bathrobes by fashion house Maison Margiela.
