Park Hotel Edgbaston
Good location, very tiny rooms with double beds and very small standing shower area

The hotel was impeccably clean, and it is an unbeatable location if you're trying to be near the university. It also serves three meals a day (plus afternoon tea), and the food is excellent--would definitely recommend getting the breakfast!

Perfect place for University of Birmingham events
Purpose of the trip to Birmingham was to visit the Barber Art Institute of the University of Birmingham for a exhibition of art work. Our visit was between semesters so the hotel, which apparently caters to university events was very underutilized, which made it even nicer for us in that it wasn't crowded and we got a great rate. Very nice facility, rooms and public areas looked great, well kept and very clean. We booked the hotel through a third party booking site which did not include the buffet breakfast. At check in I asked about how much it would be to add it. Was told that if I did it at check in it would be 9 Pounds per person per day. Otherwise 14 pound per person at time of service. Did the check in deal and it was very much worth it. If you have a event to attend at the University of Birmingham or any other reason to be staying in the area this is a fine facility. You are also allowed to use the University pool and gym while a guest.

Disappointing
I travel regularly, have stayed in many better and less costly hotels in Birmingham, and would not stay here again. Though staff are friendly and helpful, its clean and has a good location, it is overrated. I may have just been unlucky though - I didn't get much sleep and I usually have no issues sleeping. The 'king size' bed was actually 2 small singles together and the gap was very noticeable and really uncomfortable. Also, while the room was clean and modern, it felt sterile - not at all cosy, which would have been nice on a rainy evening. The breakfast was also disappointing - while there was a lot of choice, it was poorly cooked. The hash browns were pale and floppy, the scrambled eggs had a very stiff and dense texture and were strangely tasteless, bacon was congealed and not crispy, croissants were dry and baked too long. I ended up leaving most of it and bought some food in a local cafe. Also, the hotel makes much of having a swimming pool and gym. I may have missed the mention of the location in the write up - but the pool is actually a mile down the road so one can't just go there from within the hotel, which is inconvenient as getting there and back therefore takes a fair amount of time. This matters if you travel on business and meant that could not use it (which was a shame as I really fancied a swim) All in all: a disappointing stay not to be repeated.

Very nice smart hotel
Very nice hotel with brilliant food really. Breakfast was really good, sausages especially. Rooms were nice, although the windows were very thin and narrow. Bed comfortable and everywhere looked very nice and clean. Service was nice and friendly and very quick. Will stay here again.
