The room was booked and confirmed. When we arrived, we were told that there was flooding and there is no place for us to stay. I understand that accidents happen. However, the way the situation was handled is totally unacceptable. We were told that there is a comparable room available at the hotel across the river (10 min drive) and there is nothing they could do to help us. Take it, or leave it. In addition, a parking attendant decided it was his place to come up to the service desk and start arguing with us. Upon arrival at Westin (across the river), it turned out the room would not fit my family of 5. We had to pay for additional room. The breakfast was not included, so we had to wake up early and schlep back across the river to eat or pay at the restaurant at Westin. When we came back, we were told that our room would be ready by 10 AM. That did not happen until 3 PM. The manager tried hard to make things better, even reimbursed us for the wasted night and offered free trolley tickets. However, we still ended up overpaying (2 rooms at Westin) and not being able to relax during the day, as we had nowhere to stay. Staff needs to be trained how to handle unusual situations.
