Bourgeoisie on a Budget
Secret gem of Houston at an affordable price! Leniency in check out time would have been nicer, though. 4/5 stars!

STRANGE! Big Brother is Watching
I hadn't checked into a hotel that hosted bulletproof glass in the reception ever before but I was willing to look past that unnecessary security measure as the property was newly remodeled, clean and seemingly very safe (brightly lit parking lot/OK neighborhood). All was going well until my husband and I return with his elderly parents to our adjoining rooms after dinner (around 8pm). As soon as we walked into our respective rooms we received a phone call from the office asking us how many people were in the room. We explained that it was just the two of us. The clerk abruptly communicated that there were to be no more than two people in a room at any given time. We explained that we had purchased a room for his elderly parents next door and that we planned to visit with them. He told us that was "ok, but for no longer than 5-10 mins". Confused and a tad outraged we visited the office to further explain our situation, with hopes of clarifying the bizarre rule enforcement. Now imagine this - we are a married couple in our 40's from Austin who are accompanying our parents, who are in their 70's (walking canes and all) on the final leg of a road-trip. We are strangely placed in a situation where we have to ask permission to visit with family in a room that we have paid for! Even after speaking with us in person the clerk refused to allow us to spend more than 30 mins! This may be suitable for business travelers but I would avoid it at all costs if you are traveling with family
