Fake smiles and poor service
Well the service or very the lack of here is impressive. And some things is not easily covered by a smile. Breakfast is served until 10am, but you actually have to be there 9:30am, and this was not mentioned as the check-in lady mentioned 10am. Refused entry for breakfast at 9:35am, they just smiled and pointed to the paper stating word bt word what she said. The reception also gave that smirky smile and said sorry even if their note also said breakfast until 10am. Check in was at 3pm, I was there slightly early at 2:45pm and they took my passport and then after some Minutes they asked me to wait as it's really not 3 pm with a smirky smile. The hotel is nice and well suited for comfortable stays but the the bed somehow had a big hight difference so if you tried sleeping in the middle you'd roll off. I am glad I only choose to stay here one night as I feel there would for sure been more unpleasant discoveries.

Horribly hot and refused to turn on air-condition
My husband and I booked a standard double room. The hotel staff do not speak English. We arrived at the hotel at 11pm and the air condition was not working. I didn’t sleep all night and the room temperature (they have a thermometer in the room) was almost 30 degrees Celsius in this tiny little room and it was unbearable. The next morning my husband told the front desk. They said they will “fix” it during the day. We came back in the evening and it’s still not working. We went to the front desk again and they gave us a portable circulator which generated some cold air (not air conditioning) and was extremely loud. And they suggested that we “open the window”. I tried both with ear plugs in but was still too noisy. At 12:30am I went to the front desk. I asked to be changed to another room. They said the entire building ONLY has “hot air conditioning”. They keep repeating “hot only”. I said that’s misleading as I booked the hotel knowing they will have and we will need air conditioning. I asked to be booked into another APA hotel with cold air conditioning & they refused. They tried to send me away because they didn’t speak english. I turned to google translator refusing to leave as I booked 4 nights here. I asked to speak to a manager who spoke English & they disregarded. While I was there 3 others came complaining about the same issue. Finally the staff went & turned on the central air conditioning. Turned out they purposely turned it off!! And refused to turn it on

Great place for the price
Took me 30 minutes to write the review and there's an error??? Not writing it again just know that the place was great, stayed there for 2 weeks and it was pretty comfortable. Convenience store next door, metro entrance right in front, walking distance to Ueno. I walked from Ueno to the hotel on my first day, took a taxi on the day back it was about 1,100 Yen. Only cons are that the room are small, TV was useless, 1 opaque window. Not recommended for people with claustrophobia. Definitely would visit APA hotels again when I go back to Japan. I booked this 1 day before my trip and it was 30% cheaper than bookings.com where I booked 1 month in advance. I found out the cheaper price when I was looking up the place on google maps and google maps showed the price of hotels.com, I canceled my old booking right away and fortunately the cancellation was free thanks to the hotel.

Very Good 8.0
Location is excellent. Right next to Asakusa eki which is extremely easy for 1st time visitor like me to get to the hotel from Narita airport. The famous shrine and sky tower are so close by in walking distance. Excellent restuarant nearby. Family mart is just next door. Room is small but very clean. Hard to manuver in this tiny room, well it is Japan so get used to it. Overall we had a great 2 days stay.

The ladies worked at the reception are robot!
I arrived the hotel around 14:30 on 10 January and the check-in time should be 15:00. I requested if I could check in a bit earlier but the receptionist refused and told me I needed to pay extra for early check-in. The main reason i requested to check a bit early as my tummy was not feeling well. However, the senior still replied that I had to wait another 5-10 minutes. Nothing was happened in 10 minutes and I chased again around 14:45 and finally I got the room key card. I do think they are not flexible and considerable even I got a APA membership card. I can easily get early check-in for most of the hotels even small chain of hotels like Best Western in Nishikasai Tokyo.
