We were lucky to get a booking here at late notice. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, and really knowledgeable about the area for local walks, dining etc. There is a quiet little pub attached to the hotel serving great beers. Breakfast was excellent, currently they are not serving other meals due to staff shortages but there are plenty of other places to eat in a short walking distance.
There may be other places which are more ‘fancy’ - and more expensive - but for us it was perfect. So many small businesses like these have struggled post-COVID, the Sun Hotel has done a great job and we would recommend it to anyone.

Best pub in Coniston
Lovely pub and rooms which are very comfortable and clean. Excellent ales, really well kept. Great staff and owners. Best place in the area.
