2/10 Poor
30 Jul 2019
The best thing about this hotel is its nearness to the Corso Umberto, or one of the main streets in Taormina. It is only a 5-minute walk to the Catania Gate, where the taxis are also located.
Other than that, the only other attractive thing about the hotel (or B&B?) was that the room had a/c. There was no breakfast. There was no towel service. The towels we received upon our arrival were the only ones we were given. And the dirty ones were not collected. There was no daily cleaning.
Communication was difficult as the owner/manager spoke only the Sicilian dialect, a language for which there is no language book with necessary travel phrases. The hotel is in a tourist location, so the owner/manager should have better written and oral communication skills. There was no such difficulty in other places in the area. Most waiters and shopkeepers in the area spoke several languages. In all our travels, we can usually find a common language to communicate in. Not so at this hotel.
If you opt to pay in person, know that this hotel accepts only cash in the local currency. This is not specified on its website. I hope this is corrected for future inquiries.
We come to Taormina quite often and this is the first time we had encountered any obstacles. Taormina is such a lovely city with quite a lot to do. Corso Umberto has numerous restaurants and street musicians. I certainly recommend the city for an extended stay. But I do not recommend this hotel (or B&B?).
