Family overnight at the Brookdale Lodge
Loved the historic site of our stay! Very nice people working at the desk, room was clean and stocked. Coffee was on in the lobby. Loved the little store open until 10 pm too! Wish the restaurant was open but we’ll just have to retur. In a year or two :)

The hotel was great. Up front about construction noise, although I didn’t hear any. I did see the work they are trying to get done. VERY helpful front desk. But my room had a broken shower, heater was off and took 3 hours to get to 68 F; the lights inside the bedroom area were poor (although bathroom was well lit). No one cleaned the room the one day. But it was exactly where I wanted to be...went to 5 state parks; hiked a lot; ate wonderful food and found out about wines. Thank you!

Paper thin walls!
Paper thin walls! The Lodge is undergoing a much welcomed renovation. The refreshed rooms are spacious and tasteful. However, it proved impossible to get a night’s rest. The walls are so thin, we were repeatedly awakened by snoring from one neighbor and normal conversation from the room below. In fact, whenever the cute doggy in the other neighboring room ate or drank, we could hear the metal collar ID tag ‘clink’ against his bowls. The whole thing would have been humorous if we hadn’t really needed some rest after helping my nephew move to hospice. So, we checked out early and moved to the Hilton in Scotts Valley. The room there was very comfortable and the staff was hospitable and respectful. We’ll choose the Hilton next time, too!
