Decent Room, Odd Check-in Experience
The room was fairly nice, and more spacious than many places I've stayed in Japan. It was a decent value for the price we paid. I enjoyed the local area. At first it seemed like a slightly boring, business/commercial district, but if you walk around there are some cool restaurants and bars to be discovered. The only thing I really didn't like about it was the check-in process, which is a video interview via Skype. Basically, the company representative tells how dirty, smelly and noisy foreigners such as yourself are, and warns you in no uncertain terms to not behave as you usually would! I was staying there with a Japanese friend and she was quite shocked and embarrassed by this display of prejudice. I frankly found it a bit irritating. I sort of felt like telling them that if they dislike foreigners so much, they shouldn't be trying to take our money! Just rent rooms to Japanese and save everyone the embarrassment.
