Seriously...better options around Bala than this!
Ok. Where do i start...upon check-in i was told immediately (after driving 7 hrs) the reservation was cancelled. Due to the owners decision about covid. I did not get a notification. The front desk was surprised at which i said "if i had got a notification do you think i would drive 7 hrs and be standing in front of you right now?". I was livid! she immediately felt bad and showed me to the room \ apt. Upon arrival we were shown to this place that on the exterior was overgrown, unkept and full of knee high weeds. Like everywhere. The apt itself was not bad. It was ok. Pretty clean and not bad. However there was a full size kitchen with nothing it in. Like utensils. Pots and pans, gadgets etc. We were told it was because of covid. Omg. I am so sick of this excuse for shoddy basic service. Anyways...these people REALLy need to work on customer service skills. I just got a bad vibe from this place right from the start. We had to sign a damage fee form. Now the area is beautiful. They had a marina which was constant with traffic. I noticed they had a gas pump at the dock which was $1.89 a litre for supreme...poor boaters! The property is where i have the biggest problem. There are knee high weeds everywhere. There is garbage everywhere. The outdoors bbqs are a joke. There is nothing here that makes you smile. The tv didnt even have a remote. It was for "decoration" only. Wow. I could go on but i am just so angry at this place right now. Never again. Unbelievable!!!

Definitely not a hotel, or a full house
This isn't really a hotel, or a cottage. The area surrounding our stay was absolutely gorgeous, but you're paying 100% for the area. There are weeds all around the front door entrance which made it a bit uncomfortable going in and out (bugs flying around the weeds). My husband and I went up for 3 days for our 2-year wedding anniversary, and we had no remote control or working tv in the house the entire time. The downstairs is blocked off entirely so its only the upstairs to the home you are renting. We had 1 small roll of toilet paper for the whole 3 days and of course we ran out, with zero luck getting a hold of the staff (after many phone calls and voice mail). You're out in cottage country...where are you going to find TP?? Awful. But I think at the end, what bothered us was the fact that we had to clean up the entire place like the first day we walked in, and we were responsible for collecting the garbage and throwing the bags in the dumpster. There is literally ZERO service at this place. They seemed nice, but its not the service you'd expect when renting a place off these destination sites. Again, you are paying fully for the Muskoka Lake area.

2/10 Poor

Booked this for a weekend family getaway and we faced issues right off the bat. #1 we booked for unit 2194 however the cottage we received was 2196. #2 our booking was for a family house however the space downstairs was booked by someone for a long term rental and closed off only by some plywood. So we were sharing the house and did not get a private space as per the booking. #3 we experienced light outages every evening during our stay. #4 There were weeds surrounding the entrance and covering the pathway to the door. Lastly and most importantly, there resolution to every concern we had and brought to their attention was 'You can leave if you want.' The staff was combative, aggressive and rude rather than courteous and accommodating. Overall we had a terrible experience and I would not book this place again and would definitely not recommend it to anyone either.
