Perfect relaxation
I’d stayed at a TRS resort before (in Cap Cana, Dominican Republic), so I knew I could expect a high level of quality with TRS Coral Hotel in Costa Mujeres. I was not disappointed. From arrival to departure and everything in between - this was a perfect stay. I just only the vacation was longer. Upon arrival we were greeted with welcome drinks. Our reservation was upgraded to a beautiful two story suite with gorgeous ocean views. Perfectly situated on the beach, access to adjacent resort restaurants and activities with shuttle service available, beautiful landscaping, and delicious food/beverages. I would come here again in a heartbeat.

Pros - relatively new building (~4 years old) - kind and accomodating staff - great selection of food/restaurant - ease of booking restaurants/events via whatsapp - golf cart/boat every 2-3 minutes to help you explore the resort - large pool - <1 minute walking distance to nearby beach Cons - blanket/duvet missing, some pillows with funny odor; yet janitors/staff are quick to bring and/or change to clean sheets when requested, so not really a big issue. We will definitely come back in the future!

The rooms are well designed for privacy, and were quiet for the most part, though on the last night (it was a Wednesday), one of the bars blasted loud music until well past midnight that could be heard from our room even with windows closed. The beds were comfortable and decor was tasteful. The food and service were a bit of hit or miss, there may have been more focus on presentation than taste in some cases. That said, there were a decent number of choices and we didn't have too much trouble getting reservations for the a la carte restaurants. I found it very easy to get a lounger by the pool whether I wanted sun basking or shade, so overall a pleasant experience.

We have travelled extensively and have never been this disappointed with the level of service. Especially being a higher end hotel, we actually are shocked by some of the things we encountered. Thankfully we were travelling in a group otherwise we would have left. The level of service was way below expectations. We waited over an hour to be served at many of the restaurants and they were not even busy. I did not have a meal that I would want to eat again, and every entree I received was luke warm at best. Our butler service included in our stay never introduced themselves, if it hadn’t been for the other members of our group who were contacted daily by their butler we wouldn’t have been given any information. Our tv would not turn off without us unplugging it. My husband asked for batteries to change the remote, never happened. We went to the coffee bar by the pool. Some of us were lucky enough to get a coffee, but others were just told we have no more pods go to the front. I believe the appropriate response from the staff at this level of resort should have been … we are just waiting for some pods we are so sorry where are you sitting I’ll bring it out to you. I have paid far less in the past and received much more. Definitely would not go back, I’ve had better food and service at 3 star resorts.
