Exeter Review
The hotel in Reykjavik was perfect. The location in the old harbor area is a short walk from many great restaurants and shops. The hotel staff was very friendly and the rooms very clean and modern. The free breakfast was a key deciding factor when choosing a hotel in Iceland and we were not let down. You had your choice between cereal, toast, boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, meats, cheeses, fish and most important, good strong coffee. Parking at the hotel is limited, but we never had an issue getting a space. If you rent a larger vehicle you probably won't make the tight turn into and out of the garage which is under the hotel. If and when we ever return to Iceland we would certainly consider the Exeter if staying in Reykjavik.

Overall a great stay - would DEFINITELY return!
Loved loved loved the room and the view and the bakery! The drinks were great too, and the front desk employees were especially kind and helpful. Also, the cleaning service was perfect - they never bothered us too early but always made sure to make up the room no matter how late we left for the day (so long as we put our “please clean” sign on the door) - this was fantastic and genuinely the first hotel experience I’ve had where this was the case ... it makes a big difference coming home to a clean room, and since long mornings in bed were 1 of my top delights in visiting Iceland, the fact that the cleaners seamlessly accommodated my needs and schedule was greatly appreciated (and this extra level of service did not go unnoticed)! The only downside to my stay at Exeter was the free breakfast, which I found extremely limited and altogether inadequate to qualify as a legitimate breakfast offering / full meal. There was some fruit, salami, yogurt, dried oatmeal, bread, jelly, peanut butter and a fish spread of some sort .. so essentially you could make yourself a PB&J or settle for some yogurt with a spoonful of oatmeal & fruit on top, & some salami. This was a shame bc the food prices in Iceland are already so inflated that it would have been a big help to fill up on a sufficient breakfast for free. That being said, the cocktails and food served by the same restaurant (as the free breakfast buffet) produced stellar food and drinks ... though for the standard Icelandic fare.

Beautiful hotel, great location and amazing stay!
Very warm inside, perfect when you come back after a long day outside! The staff is professional and very friendly, I forgot to bring hair ties and asked if they were selling those in the reception and one of the girls gave me one of her own. Thank you! The rooms were not too big but very comfortable with great blinds to keep the sun out, and the bathroom was nice and clean. They serve cold breakfast and I prefer that over warm breakfast, but if you want egg and bacon you might have to go elsewhere. There is really only one thing that was not perfect, the small occupancy display on the toilet door were always on red. And as you can imagine, that really wasn't any problem!

Hotel is lovely! It's brand new, rooms are very quirky and very clean. They have shampoo/conditioner and body wash in the bathroom. They also have a USB charger in the rooms. It's right in the central part of Reykjavik, lots of restaurants and tour pick up points nearby. Cleaners come everyday if you need them. Room is a little hot (we went in Nov temp was about 5 degrees outside), but we still slept with the balcony door slightly open. Reception staff are very helpful, they helped me call the tour companies I had booked with to find out pick up points, helped me find veg/vegan restaurants and helped me book blue lagoon transfer. Breakfast is decent, they have bread, different spreads, fruit. yogurt, cereal, croissants (cutlery is a little dirty, you have to fish around for a clean bowl).

Great location near the harbour and lots of bars and restaurants. 5 mins walk from the closest mini bus pick up / drop off point for trips and the airport. The on site restaurant, Le Cocke was excellant, breakfast and evening meals. The beer pumps in the bar were fascinating - the glass fills from the bottom upwards - you have got to see it ! Our bed was sooo comfy ! Good range of TV chanels - not that we were in our room long enough to watch much. The Toni&Guy hairdryer was a nice touch as were the bathroom toiletries. Would have been nice to have had instructions on how to use the coffee machine but, as we said before, we weren't in the room for any length of time and there was plenty of coffee at the included continental breakfast, which was plentiful. Would thorougjly recommend and if we ever return, we will definitely stay here.
