Very Good 8.0
Better than some hotels, but not perfect!
Pros: - Our room was very modern, updated, and clean. - It included an iPad for searching up restaurants, hikes, etc. which was very helpful. -The tv was massive and was on a moveable wall mount so you could position it where you liked. It included Optik tv so you could watch anything. - The shower had good pressure and the tub was really deep which made taking baths enjoyable. - The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc. - The washer/dryer was a great idea, but we weren’t there long enough to use it. Cons: - The mat at the door was way to small, so we had to step on the floor with our snowy boots. Simple solution, get a bigger mat! - Our unit was facing the main road which meant we could hear every car that drove by. - We were on the ground level which meant we could hear every footstep above us. And they were noisy! - The instructions said housekeeping would come only after the 4th morning, yet every time we came home, the garbage was empty. That made us feel uncomfortable, especially when someone tried to open the door the morning of our check out while we were still in bed! Knock first, buddy! - Speaking of the bed, it was moderately comfortable but the sheets were really “scratchy” if you know what I mean. - The rooftop hot tub is great idea, but in the winter all of your clothes get snowy and wet, and you have to walk on snow in order to get to the tub. I hope this gets improved!

Going to Canmore with your family? Try Basecamp!
We had a fantastic stay at Basecamp Resort. Had a family wedding at a nearby venue and wanted a space to allow our children more room than a standard hotel room would allow. Basecamp Resort gave us exactly that! It is a newer development and had a fully stocked kitchen for pots pans and some general cooking utensils/tools. Full size fridge and a dishwasher was a plus! 3 beds plus a pull out sofa bed was perfect for our families. The only downsides I could see was the lack of parking. As we were a family that travelled in 3 vehicles it would have been nice to have had an option to have at least 2 spaces allotted. On the upside, there was parking available a block over that we found space on. However had it been -30 or if you needed to plug your vehicle in, having to park on a street would not allow you to do that. A bit annoying to see that some people still got away with parking their vehicle along the curbs near the units which is not supposed to be allowed. 3 bathrooms with our group was fantastic! Our unit was nice and clean, noticed a bit of dust in the corners and on baseboards in the 2 bathrooms with showers in them. So nice to not have to carry a key or keycard to access your unit, punch code door locks is really up with the times! Added gem is the outdoor hot tub facing the mountains, what a wonderful feature. Would love to stay at Basecamp resort again.

Exceptional 10.0
Canmore is an expensive place to stay during the high season, but I was fortunate to find a microsuite available at Basecamp resort for a relatively reasonable price ($279/nite) despite last minute booking. The suite was exactly as shown on Expedia, was brand new, with everything one could need - it was like a tiny house! including W/D, dishwasher, stove/oven, M/W, coffee maker, kettle, fridge/freezer, an array of kitchen utensils, and a great salt/pepper grinder. It was perfect for one person - might have been a bit tight with 2 people and a lot of luggage. Free outdoor parking for each suite. My unit faced away from the main road and toward the railway track - which is only about 70m away - the only drawback. Because the room became hot at night I had to keep a window open which meant loud noise from any train that went through and there were a lot on Friday night! ( not so many on Saturday night). I'm sure ear plugs might help! I couldn't get any air movement as there's only one window. The following night the front desk person of Basecamp lodge (next door) connected the portable A/C unit in the room. It was very noisy, and didn't make any difference (I found out later the exhaust pipe was blocked). I needed a late check-out and they allowed me an extra 60min despite it being a long weekend. All in all it was perfect for my needs, 10-15' walk to main street/grocery stores. I would definitely stay there again.

Amazing Modern Gem!
My husband and I decided to stay here based on affordability and the fact that we would have access to a full kitchen. Some of the reviews we read indicated that there was noise from the street traffic, train or banging in the walls. Our bedroom faced the street and we did not hear any of these things. We only saw and heard the train once when leaving for a walk. The location is also conveniently close to many restaurants, and stores such as Nutter's Natural Foods and Save-On-Foods. Rec centre Elevation Place is nearby and its a picturesque 15 minute walk into town centre. Also appreciated in the room was the modern decor, and the added detail of local coffee and art, and locally-made natural bath products by Rocky Mountain Soap Company. Each suite also has an iPad which was useful for researching further detail about the area. Check-in was extremely easy and keyless entry was appreciated. Communication, when required was through text and always timely in response. I also loved the option to sit outside as each suite has it's own table and chairs. Our only suggestions are to provide more hangers and a dresser. There is room to do both while maintaining the minimalist decor. Parking was a bit snug but definitely manageable. An added surprise was when realized the same suite could provide the space needed to bring our son and two small dogs along. Would definitely visit again!

Modern and clean condo with some noise issues
This was a very nice clean condo, that is modern and new. It had a well stocked kitchen, and a washer and dryer. There was a shared rooftop hot tub that was great, with a beautiful view. We liked a lot about this place. The main drawback was that it backed up to a train track, with trains going by a few times during the night. There was no ac, which I can understand since it cools off at night, but we were there on warm days, and had less privacy and a good bit of noise with our windows open, since we were on the ground floor and our bedroom window opened to the parking lot/ train track, and front window to a busy walkway between the 2 buildings. We probably wouldn’t stay here again, but it was a nice place, and if you don’t mind some noise, or are happy to sleep with ear plugs, this might be a great place for you. And the larger condos on the second floor would probably feel much more private.
